I am glad you got it working again, and thank you for warning me about the state of your mouse, I will bring some disposable gloves if I need to use it
How about you let that bad boy soak in some IPA for a couple of days? xD
- Instructions unclear, soaked in India Pale Ale and now it's even stickier
  
  On the plus side you have now made a Mouse IPA. Really brings out the hoppy flavour.
- Taking something apart to fix it and not also cleaning it is a handiwork sin

- It's just paint. I guess if OP cared, they could sand it off and spray it with an even coat to make it pretty.
  
  I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that this mouse broke because of the 3+ layers of definitely-not-paint that I can see in this pic

Great follow up, nice to see it’s working again!
Nice! I used a Logitech MX518 for around 12 years before I finally decided it was too grody to continue using. I heard they released a MX518 homage mouse a few years ago, and I'm thinking about getting one. They were the perfect mice.
