Agreed. I've been trying to rotate between Jerboa, Liftoff, and Connect and I just keep floating back to Liftoff for now. Finding I like the UI the best at this point and I've also been experiencing less issues with it as well.
But excited to see how they all continue to develop!
I've had almost zero issues with Liftoff other than switching the global sorting in the general settings causing duplicate posts from communities in the current instance I was in, but other than that it is fast, not bad looking and straightforward.
I like it overall, but it's so unintuitive to me. Not a huge fan of the slide functionality, especially the dual action sliding. It probably gets easier once you get used to it though.
It definitely gets easier as you use it. Now the slides in connect irritate me, because if I overshoot and reach the save one, it saves even if I don't actually remove my finger and that's annoying because I have to unsave again.
Wasn't aware of Connect, that might actually be the one to hold me until Sync comes out. I was jumping between jerboa (for the swipe actions) and thunder (for the UI similar to sync), but connect seems to have both and a few other things that remind me of Sync (cards for posts, hold to collapse comment thread, swipe actions for post).
I know you posted out of frustration but thanks for the suggestion!
You can tap the comment, go on the three dots and it will give you the option to copy text. Haven't really tried but I assume it would copy the entire comment so it would probably need some editing in case you just want to cite part of it.
Yeah, I can understand that, in sync you can at least copy while you are replying, connect still does the collapse on the reply page with the single comment you're replying to
it means that I can't copy text to cite in comment replies.
Like /u/Danilo said; you need to tap the comment, copy text and then insert as a quote. It's not exactly intuitive, but it seems to be the way to do it. I hope it gets fixed.
Yeah I agree completly. That puts me off too. Im using wefwef.app atm. Looks good, but too much ios like for my tastes. Also Liftoff now is crashing all the time.
Connect has blocking communities and hiding threads which is fantastic. I'm waiting for something better, but I need to be able to block the massive amount of futa/hentai/ai porn communities on here.
Seriously, I feel like I block 3 to 5 new porn communities per day. There's some weird shit on here. Can't wait to til we can block whole instances. I would like to be able to browse All without seeing lemmynsfw
Same here.. flipping back and forth between connect and liftoff. Connect definitely looks and feels better but liftoff seems to have a better search π€·ββοΈ
Waiting patiently π
I'm holding out hope for boost lemmy. Used boost exclusively for Reddit for the longest time. Jebora seems to work best for me but Ive had both Jeb and connect for a while.
Iβm mostly on mobile for vacation reasons, so Iβm chilling on wefwef, but if they donβt add blocking soon Iβll move on. Canβt handle the βblahajβ.
Iβm most excited to try Liftoff because it looks like the most x-platform compatibility? I think I saw windows/macOS/iOS/android, and I use all 4. I prefer apps to website browsing for this sort of thing on desktop, so thatβs attractive.
Interested to hear what other people are using/enjoying!
I think the most recent Connect updates makes it much better. I've been using it more than Liftoff the last couple of days. Is Thunder not on the Google Play store? I couldn't find it.
May be. I'm on Brazilian instance that runs on green energy. I'll wait a little more, the instances are very young yet, let them have more time to grow π
I'm on Connect right now. I quite like it, especially how fast it is (or maybe that's a consequence of Lemmy being fast in general). UI seems clean enough. But I really really miss the content filtering that Sync provided.
I was really positively surprised to hear Sync is being developed for Lemmy. Hoping it releases soon!
Despite the iPhone-focused interface, I've found myself using Voyager/Wefwef the most. Liftoff is second. Jerboa is third as it is functional, but just doesn't seem to match my work flow.
I also have Thunder and Connect, but I don't find myself using those as much.
I love wefwef/voyager. This might not be a normal feature people use but I love wefwef's deep linking feature (on android). I have a push notification system for lemmy which detects incomming emails from lemmy and uses ntfy to send reddit sync like push notifications. In wefwefs case I can set ntfy to open voyagers inbox directly. Voyager is also nice since opening a unread message (or interacting with it) auto marks it as read (which I don't believe other clients do for some reason, I could be wrong though).
The new jerboa is a huge step up for me. Swiping to get back to the front page, and comment arrows to jump to level comments. Will use it until sync or boost hits.
I bounce between Jerboa for discovery(its search works best for finding communities) and Liftoff for browsing posts. Though Jerboa seems to be improving faster than Liftoff.
Today is a Connect day and within the past week they've changed it up enough that I'm really enjoying it. Mostly hiding posts, hiding read posts, and marking scrolled past posts as read (so hide on refresh). It's not perfect but it's better than it was a few days ago before the most recent update.
