Given how the US is treating protesters on university campuses this month, I'd say we're not far behind.
Remember when the Trump admin was disappearing people from protests in unmarked vans driven by anonymous people wearing no uniforms?
This is what a lot of fascist politicians aspire to be, though they'd never say it out loud. After all, they only want to do this to the "bad" people.
Sorry for making this US-centric, this is a shame for Iran and their society, both of which have great potential if they could get out from under the boot.
One of my favourite things movies and TV shows can do is show an injury that would be minor on an action movie, then proceed to explain that no, it’s actually possible to fully die from it.
Archer is a good example:
“You were knocked out, which btw is suuuper bad for you”
Sorry for making this US-centric, this is a shame for Iran and their society, both of which have great potential if they could get out from under the boot.
As an Iranian, please do make this about the US. We have seen a lot of parallels with what is wrong with iran vs what is wrong in US.
It’s what makes the whole death to America chant so ironic.
From my eyes, there is no iran vs us or all that. This is a human problem when people take power and suppress their citizens using fear tactics. We all should be on team democracy and personal freedoms.
... Is it? Are protesters of modesty laws regularly arrested raped and killed without consequences in America?
Would you prefer to live in Iran right now?
Look, America is pretty shitty, but if your statement is America = Iran then you clearly know fuck all about Iran. Don't minimize this woman's death and the conditions that spurred her to protest.
"Police killed over 1.3k people in 2023 in America"
"police officers in the US were charged with forcible rape 405 times between 2005 and 2013. That's an average of 45 a year. Forcible fondling was more common, with 636 instances."
Cops in America are going around murdering and raping without consequences.
