Totally agree with you. I just wish the internal party crisis that’s happening in the Dems wasn’t happening because it makes me think that Trump will win. It’s hard because I get WHY it’s happening — but this is the shit that keeps me up at night. My kids deserve far fucking better (we all do).

It does appear that why though when we are essentially facing a dictatorship from a GOP candidate. I think “connection” can be very subjective depending on who you’re talking to, and I think this conversation needs a lot more nuance than perhaps is being given to it. I think by not lending credence to how we form connections and bonds with these political figures through emotion, we are trying to act like that it doesn’t exist (or shouldn’t), which isn’t true. The article here seems more to be pointing out that liberal women have lost their fathers to far-right ideology, not so much that they are now attaching that lost relationship to Walz. It seems more as though Walz helped these women come to terms with this fact, or enlightened them to it.

I don’t think there is anything wrong about coming to your own conclusions from public figures about the ways in which your personal relationships have been impacted by said public figures. Yes we don’t know these people directly but they impact and shape our lives, sometimes without us even knowing it.

Hey, so I am by no means an expert but have experience in environmental public health. We talk a lot about risk mitigation. A lot of people smarter than me measure what chemicals are appropriate levels in certain products. Because while yes, it is true that no amount of lead is good for you, there are so many factors that come into play that you have to contend with the fact that there will be a number of chemicals that will be occurring within our environment that can’t always be controlled, so they end up in our products. It’s a really fascinating field, I have a textbook recommendation that’s really good if anyone is interested - it isn’t open-source, though. :/

Hi, friend. I’m sure you have well-meaning intentions by making this comment. As someone who was a survivor of a similar situation such as this, and who also grew into a 19 year old, I can tell you that from a non-clinical perspective, if you are attracted to a child of early puberty age as a 19 year old adult, I don’t think making this assumption is too far off the table. I’m sick and tired of coming on here and listening to this discourse about this volleyball player. Thank you for your two sides to every story, attempt at nuance and empathy for a rapist here. As a survivor of CSA, this has never been granted to me or anyone else I know of that has survived something like this. We need a different reaction to people who do these acts to innocent children.
