  • Pleasure was all mine!

And, if I have permission, I dub this little critter "Jör," after the Swedish word for engineer.

Also, it's short for Jörmungandr, the mythical snake of Norse folklore! 🐍

  • Current setup:
  • Update.

  • [Updated] Introducing LW Emoji Contest!
  • Agreed! :lw: It's such a cute critter!

  • Whats your favorite free open source software that everyone should try?
  • I adore VLC.

I've been using Linux Mint for almost a year and a half now: would recommend it to anyone ready to make a jump into Linux and away from Windows. It's quite friendly.

I'm also quite enjoying Sonarr to keep track of some older television shows that I enjoy.

  • Linux 6.5 has landed
  • I enjoy that Mr. Torvalds is referred to as an "emperor penguin."

    That is all.

  • Too much Wood.
  • I like it! Feels like cabin-chic.

  • Q: /c/TheBakery

Whenever I got rather frustrated, and I wanted to share a rant, I read through /r/TheBakery on reddit. Sadly, this grouping has fallen to the wayside, as had its Discord.

For those who are interested in creating /c/Breadtube videos, and are building the next thing... where are they going? Is there a community here on Lemmy, or elsewhere, for those who are making new videos and editors?

    Removal of piracy communities
  • It's a tough decision.

There's a target on the collective back of Lemmy, its developers and this instance. Rooting out these issues early is part of it. One of my first recommendations to @[email protected] was to start putting aside contribution dollars from donors for a legal fund to manage liabilities like this. This decision is just solid management and avoiding issues well ahead of time.

I wish the admins well. And for those who have had their communities 'snipped' from being connected to Lemmy.world, I hear you. It's hard when you have built a connection and a sense of self on a platform, and then it becomes severed. That's hard.

  • Current setup:
  • Sadly, no. Just got the regular lips, Mr. Blott!

  • Current setup:
  • I noticed you switched from having vertical side monitors to horizontal.

I did switch! I used the vertical monitor for Slack and other notification/messaging tools (and for my tasks tracker tools and Kanban boards)... and when I added the above-mounted monitor, I noticed I was shifting the same windows upwards rather than to the vertically mounted screens I was using.

So I'm testing it out and enjoying the switch. However, I might switch back at one point as I do a lot of documents in my daily workflow, and the vertical monitors help with the editing process.

  • What is your worst setup ever?
  • Oh dear. It... was an older laptop, and through the pandemic it became clear that I needed a substantial upgrade. You're quite right that the laptop wasn't able to keep up! 😂

  • What is your worst setup ever?
  • Thanks, Jet! That... makes me feel a smidgen better about it. 😅

  • Current setup:
  • The Pixel buds also charge on the stand right?

    Yes.

Or is it just so you can charge both phone and the buds at the same time?

    Exactly!

I have banned my cell from my bedroom, so each night I place my phone and my earbuds in one spot on the desk. Also, I leave my phone docked on the Pixel Stand during the day and work hours, which lets it double as a bit of a digital display and control for music/podcasts.

  • What is your worst setup ever?
  • Oh, man.

It'd be March 2020 for me.

    See below for picture.

  • Current setup:
  • If you'd like to see my setup journey, I shared my path on Mastodon.

    Below was March 2020:

You can view the progress here and the OP without mood lighting here.

  • Why does the Steam Deck use Arch Linux?
  • I read this article a couple of years ago about the subject. Apparently, one part was ease and rapidity of rolling updates with the likes of Arch, and another part of wanting a bit more experimental nature of Arch versus steady-as-she-goes and stable Debian. It's a rather neat discussion and debate.

If you've been following along with the internet of things, there has been some noise surrounding various social media platforms in the last six months or so. Some of it has been good, others much less so. On my end, I've spent most of the last two years or so with my Twitter account on private,

EDIT: I've now made a repository on GitHub, so that you can download the graphics and use them for your communities and projects. There's even an Etsy store selling stickers now.
