My landlord wants my potted plant gone :(
  • Your landlord is a piece of work! You handled it brilliantly, though. Anytime there is a building-wide notice with anything legal cited, I look it up; every damn time they are twisting some existing bylaw to try to control tenants.

Long live your plant! They look very happy and healthy :)

  • Wait, really?
  • Perfect timing for the sentiment. NF Canada axed the $10 stream last month, so now it's just godforsaken ad stream or the whopping increase to $15. I cancelled last month before this happened, so I won't get the grandfathered $10 plan. Perhaps a blessing in disguise, because this tactic feels ever so much like being held hostage.

    Screw Netflix!!

  • Reddit’s only free iOS app icons are ugly now
  • The only thing I can come up with is when reddit was shitting the bed most egregiously, all of the news outlets were showing the app icon in images/thumbnails. Perhaps they wanted to distance a bit from the bad publicity?

Not that having a Doge button is any kind of brand recognition. I'd argue it's juvenile for such a "grown up company", or whatever Spez said about adult business, hehe.

  • Besides speed, what would actually suck about surfing the internet back in the day compared to now?
  • The looks I got trying out online dating back in the day! The dates I got back then were.. interesting. Dating sites were one aspect of the internet that needed a mainstream following.

I miss when google still proclaimed to not be evil, and I didn't need every damn ad and tracker blocker imaginable on Firefox just to kick around.

  • Threads collects so much sensitive information it’s a ‘hacker’s dream,’ experts say
  • Ugh, reading Suck's (keeping that error) bullshit responses enrages me; he never answers the question. I deleted FB c.2014 but have friends that still use it, so I'm fucked regardless of my ad/tracker blocker.

Also, that threads homepage image looks like someone took pictures of all the massive shites they took over a week, composited them, and then adjusted the sliders to black-- adding a prism gradient for the text area. They aren't spending their money on graphic designers..

  • I get why all the sites are getting shittier (interest rates etc etc) -- but why are they all getting shittier in the same shitty dumb way?
  • Inflation/cost of living/etc isn't singlehandedly increasing "enshittification" but rather the boundless greed of capitalism which seeks infinite growth of profit.

It's unsustainable so we'd better make more humans to buy more stuff from a handful of people.

  • Wagner boss Prigozhin is in Russia, Belarus ruler Lukashenko says
  • And still only some voice recordings posted to Telegram? Seems like it would be just as easy to post a video-- surely he'd want everyone to know he's alive.

Couple that with the fact no one can get the story straight.... To quote Judge Judy: "If it doesn't make sense it probably isn't true". Sounds like he's incarcerated, incognito, or incapacitated.

  • Be a better ~~lemming~~ Motorhead
  • That's what I was appreciating here and on Lemmy-- instead of seeing downvotes, one was seeing replies.

The large influx of users on the 1st don't seem to be aware of the nuanced decorum on the Verse, but hopefully everyone will get on the same page soon :)

  • OceanGate is still advertising expeditions to the Titanic wreckage on its website
  • The website also said travelers may be joined by French diver PH Nargeolet — one of the people who died on board the Titan submersible earlier this month.

Damn, this goes so much deeper than /corporatefacepalm. rip Nargeolet.

Also, must go look for that sub in the Fediverse.
Edit: /corporatefacepalm hasn't been created yet.

  • /r/blind community migrates to Lemmy.
  • That's atrocious! I hope someone is sending this post to a few media outlets.

    Edit: found this--
