What do you think of the new sonic screwdriver?
  • I love the inclusion of the Rwandan proverb translated into Gallifreyan. It's a really cool way to portray homage to the Doctor's character while also including non-Western influences.

As to the design of the screwdriver itself, I quite miss the old cylindrical design. I'm sure it'll be fine in action though.

  • In the United States is there an easy way to find out what business occupied space before the current business?
  • To find the previous businesses at that address, contact the City and ask for business license history at that address. Most cities require a business license for every business that wants to operate in a city.

To find the previous construction activity at that location, contact the City (or County if it's unincorporated) and ask for Planning and Building permits at that location. Some sort of permit is always needed when something is being built, so there should be records on it.

Typically, City/County websites have a permit record database online under their Building/Planning/Community Development department. You can usually use those to search up permits for an address. To see actual plans, you would need to contact the City.

For business licenses, that information isn't normally available online but should be public record and can be accessed by contacting the City.

    Real meat vs Beyond meat
  • While I agree that beef burgers are great and that beyond meat just isn't the same, I think it's also important to remember that the second best thing to going vegetarian is eating less meat.

Should Pokémon Have Stayed 2D? By MunchingOrange
  • I would love to see the mainline games experiment more with different artstyles. Like you said, it would make the games feel new and visually exciting again. But yeah, I don't know how that's going to happen with the current release schedule.

  • MTC Bay Area Transit Wayfinding Survey
  • One of the ideas that I've seen thrown around is that all 27 Bay Area transit agencies should be branded as one. For example, instead of telling customers that you have to take SolanoExpress, BART, and AC Transit, they would all be branded as one (for example, Bay Area Regional Transit, or BART :p). I think this could be an interesting way of making the region seem more integrated to the average person, even if all the agencies still maintain their own control.

    What do you all think?

The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the Bay Area's regional transportation planning agency, is working on developing an integrated regional wayfinding system for the region's public transit system. The Regional Mapping and Wayfinding Project aims to make it easier to navigate and explore the Bay Area using public transit and connecting services. This effort is one of 27 different actions identified in the Bay Area Transit Transformation Action Plan, which was completed in 2021.

Papel picado along a street in San José del Cabo, México
  • A picture of papel picado, a traditional Mexican art form, along the street Miguel Hidalgo in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur, México. Interestingly, each piece of paper is advertising one of the local businesses on the street (presumably, that business was the one who put it up).

I thought this was a cool method of urban art and activating the street for people on foot, especially in a major tourist zone near the community center. Please let me know if this fits this community!

Just finished the Owl House, what to watch next?
  • I love Gravity Falls! I watched it when it first came out and remember hanging out with friends at the park and crafting theories. I was very happy to learn that Alex Hirsch voiced King and HOOTYYY (I love Hooty's voice). Definitely due for a rewatch.

  • Just finished the Owl House, what to watch next?

I just finished the Owl House last night and aghhhhhh I love this show! I loved watching the plot and lore unfold and seeing Lumity come to life and become canon! Seeing the final epilogue and all the characters grown up makes me want MORE, kind of like an epilogue series with the characters in college similar to Steven Universe: Future. Super bummed the show was canceled but I'm happy that it got the ending that we got. I'm gonna miss this show, can't wait to rewatch it in the future.

What do y'all suggest I watch next?
