Let's talk about something else
  • Almalinux. I used to use centos on servers and fedora workstation on my desktops but have switched over to Almalinux for both. Will be interesting to see what shakes out with the whole Redhat source repo change.

Ubuntu was unstable for me on my desktop every time I tried. I always disliked Ubuntu on servers.

  • Do you have any recommendations for picking an ebike for daily commutes?
  • While I don't regret buying a RadCity from RadPowerBikes in 2020, I would caution someone from buying from those guys if they are not comfortable doing some maintenance work. The bikes are inexpensive and decent.

My bike came with incorrectly adjusted spokes that I had to adjust, and I had to re-tighten the bottom bracket within a year of buying it. It's also hard to get hold of their support.

However, the bike has been solid, even in stupidly heavy rain and wet weather, and I can get about 80 km of pedal assist out of it, despite me being a fat dude. I confirmed the range by forgetting to charge the battery after my last 48 km round trip work commute, and making it another 36 km before running out of juice.

  • Opinel no.8 Everyday Carry

These are cheap, sharp, easy to maintain, and you don't feel too bad if they get lost. I lent my son my suitcase, with my previous no.8 in the inside pocket by accident and he made it through three airports before the TSA in Chicago confiscated it. Apart from the memories it held, it was no huge loss and i had it replaced the next day.
