Man flies from Denmark to Los Angeles with no passport or plane ticket
  • Security is there to make sure you're not carrying illegal stuff, as long as that's fine, the only time they maybe check the id is before giving you the boarding pass.

Looks like the guy didn't have a boarding pass altogether, so not sure how he got into the plane.

There is usually a person or an automatic gate that checks your pass before allowing you through the plane. However that's more like a ticket check and to make sure people don't get on the wrong planes, it's probably not super hard to get around.

  • Is eating potato chips better than nothing in terms of pure nutrition and wholesomeness?
  • Yes, potato chips are completely fine in that situation. I don't know why people say they have too much salt. Sure, they have a lot, but when you have a cold, you're supposed to drink a lot of water, so that balances out. You can lose a lot of salt due to sweating (especially if you have a fever) and peeing. And salt is a very important electrolyte. And the fat and starch gives you calories.

  • Made the switch to KDE
  • Gnome is great because of the large UI size. Like my 14" notebook has a roughly 2800x1600 screen resolution and it's still pretty usable without any UI scaling. If the bars are an inch tall, you're either using a huge TV or a screen from the garbage dump. Gnome really needs a modern system.

  • How long could one survive with only water and beer and no food?
  • I think you would be fine for a long time if you drank old-style beer. Unfiltered, low alcohol content, some remaining sugar/starch and with lots of yeast, maybe some impurities that probably contain amino acids, vitamin b12 and other important stuff.

  • Sokath, his eyes uncovered!
  • I mean, they seem to have basic grammar for items and people and actions ("eyes", "walls", "fell"), it's possible that they only use that weird allegory reference pattern when speaking formally to strangers or whatever. It's also possible that their language in the original version makes more sense and is more practical and it just gets mangled by the universal translator.

  • Signal leaked random contacts to me!
  • Are these under "Contacts" or "last messages"? If they're under contacts, you likely have some other app that provides these dubious contacts. Might also want to check your contacts app if it contains dubious entries.

  • Bottle of that good stuff
  • The "q. s." remains a mystery though.

q.s. means quantum satis and is Latin for "as much as necessary". Which means they add enough for the right consistency or flavour or whatever, but the exact amount isn't given and might vary.

  • Started Playing 'The Talos Principle'
  • I had fun for about the first two worlds. After that the puzzles became to grindy and frustrating and I didn't have much fun with the puzzles with the recorders and the exploding enemies in particular. Also as someone who fears heights, the last section was pretty much unplayable.

  • So this is how I die
  • Still sounds implausible and far fetched. Why would you be outside without adequate clothing? (Also below zero can be fine in jeans and sweatshirt if the sun is shining and there isn't much wind). And in that case it would be more a heat issue and less like a shelter issue.

The other case also sounds more like a heat/water issue and less like a shelter issue.

  • *Permanently Deleted*
  • The characters probably shouldn't know the exact stats, but I mean, some things are reasonably obvious. For example if the barbarian pc turned an enemy into mush with a single hit in the last battle, the character can assume that they're very strong. And so on.

  • Fahrenheit vs. Celsius vs. Kelvin
  • 0°C is completely fine with jeans and a thick jacket, especially when it's sunny and there isn't much wind. It's cold, but there's probably not much ice or snow, if anything, probably mostly slush.

Compared to say -20 C where you should have a good ski jacket and ski pants, warm shoes and socks, generally multiple layers everywhere, winter gloves and so on.
