Same year!
Mavis Beacon teaches typing. BBSs. Cassette tapes with the pencil. I had a Spectrum that used cassettes before I got my Amiga 500.
Not depression, but ...
I have a friend with a bit of "resting bitch face". Someone screamed at her from across the street to "smile and be happy, it's a great day!"
She was like, I was happy ....
An additional point to treadmills is that it's easier on my knees and ankles. Also, I know we're not supposed to talk to people at the gym but I chat --ever so briefly-- with the regulars that go at my times. It's nice to say hi to a familiar face every now and again. As I'm getting older and do remote work, it's useful for me.
I've seen interviews a year or two after where he's said he doesn't regret it because it was important to address it due to her basically expecting to win.
Not sure if he still holds that to this day though seeing the fustercluck we've got.
I have a portable monitor just in case and I bust it out if there's no monitor for me to plug in.
I haven't read the book either but I heard this Lolita podcast series and it was a great breakdown about how it was misinterpreted. I couldn't believe everything I knew about it from mainstream media was off.
Will definitely be checking out your video!
Whenever I hear about moths, I think about the moth scene in Lost between Charlie and Locke: https://youtu.be/kmXV5iOncT8?si=Wh_d_RCkKiclyiYF
I actually still like some LTT videos. I just find the thumbnails off-putting ... so unless the topic interests me I don't typically watch anymore.
I really enjoyed the Emily/Anthony bits too.
Key swing state voters are apparently idiots.

(for some nostalgic Discovery vibes)
Rogue One blew my mind. Absolutely loved it.
I know it's probably an unpopular opinion but I liked Solo too. The parts I didn't enjoy were the callbacks and stuff. I didn't need to see all those, but I watched it twice and didn't regret it.
lol when I went vegan I used a lot of meat substitutes to get me over it. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good though!
I hate the Steam Deck! /s
I mean, I'm half joking but I used to sleep in bed and now I waste like 2-3 hours on Balatro instead of falling asleep at an appropriate hour.
I think it can depend on where you live and dry heat vs humid and stuff, but in general I agree.
I would sleep with a fan instead of turning on AC.
Go for a walk in the mornings if a run is too daunting. Gradually go up.
A problem I had is I'm too dedicated to some things and will run a lot and then injure myself by going too often or beyond what my body is capable of instead of ramping up in a healthy way. Then I wind up doing nothing again due to injury.
Atheism is a religion as much as being bald is a hair colour.
An atheist can be spiritual or whatever but like I hope this person doesn't pull something with those mental gymnastics.
I think a lot of these "cab companies" use the tips to pay the drivers now and take more for themselves.
It's okay, it's hydro powered.
I love the 24 hour clock and living in London, UK I used it all the time. However, I remember one time I bought movie tickets at lunch for 17:30 and my brain thought it was for 7:30pm and I called my friend at the last moment saying: "you have to leave work early if we're gonna make it!"
I don't know why in sci-fi or other fiction, I love it when they use Terra. Not sure why I find that more believable.

The Man Who Destroyed Google Search
Wanna listen to this story instead? Check out this week's Better Offline podcast, "The Man That Destroyed Google Search," available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and anywhere else you get your podcasts. This is the story of how Google Search died, and the people responsible for killing it. The story...
It's a story from April, I tried seeing if it was posted before, however it's the story about how the advertising and finance team beat the search team into submission by ousting the core person protecting it to pursue "growth" and "revenue" at all costs.

Just popped up in my feed. I loved Starship Troopers as a kid, not knowing the satire underneath. Anyways, it's a nice interview.
