Sunk cost fallacy hits people hard.
It's true. I never deleted my reddit posts and comments because I spent like 13 years with that account. A part of my brain says "don't delete those, you might need them later." It's like a natural hording instinct.
It's easier to lie to a person than convince a person they've been lied to.
Keep in mind that's Income Tax. Most rich people don't actually have income, they have capital gains.
Lol yeah, except the Apple guy's name is actually Tim Cook. But then Trump called him Tim Apple and it became a meme.
His build up to the announcement cracked me up:
Lol I didn't even know they were actually bidding. I saw a Lemmy comment yesterday saying they should, but I didn't think they actually would do it.
Lol all of that just makes Rubio seem sane. It's crazy that it takes a leak from Iran to see things like "Trump shouldn't be trusted with the nuclear codes" and "MAGA crazies are preventing Congress from passing meaningful legislation."
That's what is ridiculous to me. The consequences are literally that they might lose their job. Yeah it sucks for them a little bit, but the alternative is destroying our fucking country. It's amazing how many of them choose to bend the knee time and time again.
I know! I hate myself for it but I can't unsee it. I think it's the chin that does it for me. That and the sleaziness...
On a random note, not sure how many Monkey Island fans there are around here, but I can't see Matt Gaetz without seeing Stan the used boat salesman.
Shouldn't this dude be in prison for sex trafficking?
Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad that presidents can't just overturn Justice Department policy when they want.
Wish we had a remind me bot so I can check this comment in 4 years and see if that's still the case.
I dunno about the parasite aspect, but I know COVID has been linked to brain damage. So if you think about it, a large percentage of the population being brain damaged is actually a good explanation for what happened with the election.
I dunno. The human part of me wants to believe that there would be something that would be to much for his base to stomach. But the pessimist in me that's still processing last week's election makes me think there could be a video of Trump and Epstein raping a 13 year old and his base wouldn't give a shit.
Is there an app? I use Voyager and Sync for Lemmy.
I still don't understand how this is an official DOJ policy. I always see it referenced as a DOJ memo from the 70s. Who gives a shit about memos? This is supposed to be a country of laws, not 50 year old memos.
But yeah, would love Garland to issue a new memo overturning that policy. Let Trump's first official act be to overturn an existing policy to prevent him from being investigated. Not saying he would even hesitate to do it, just saying I'd like to make it an explicit step he has to take.
Looking at that COVID tracker, I was surprised to learn that earlier this year, we were at 10% of the peak deaths per week. It didn't even make the news. There hasn't been any major visible effort to increase vaccines. My family and I have got our update shots, but when I mentioned getting boosters to my coworkers they all shrugged off.
Seems like there's a baseline level of death that people are just kind of ok with.
Unanswered questions about Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas linger as a new Supreme Court term begins.
Links not showing as read with latest version of Lemmy
I’ve been using Sync for Lemmy for a year or so, but very recently (within the last day or so) links have stopped showing as read when I click on them and then go back. I tested this with a lemmy.world account and don’t have the same problem. I saw a post saying sh.itjust.works was updating to Lemmy...
Cross posting this from https://sh.itjust.works/post/25548740
There's an issue with posts not showing as read on newer instances of Lemmy.
Anyone else having trouble with links not showing as read?

I saw a post saying sh.itjust.works was updating to Lemmy v19.5 a few days ago. I'm wondering if maybe it caused a problem or if it's just me having this issue.
Thanks
Denver is leading Seattle 13-9 at half. One team has scored a touchdown...
...and it isn't Denver. Has that ever happened before?
