Hundreds of protesters marched on Brisbane Parliament on Wednesday calling for tougher sentences for young offenders.
I love the redesign! Looks so much sleeker and the colour for dark mode is better.
Could we have a setting to disable swipe gestures please? Clumsy me will end up accidentally triggering the wrong ones all the time.
That's appalling that that sort of behaviour is still prevalent with taxis. I think rideshare services also share the same problem though? There have been many anecdotes onine by Australians quoting their awful experiences with rideshare drivers and even some mentioning they found taxis to be the better option nowadays.
Regradless, I firmly believe the taxi industry should be held up to a higher standard.
That's a good point, and really unfortunate. I found the rising popularity of rideshare to be beneficial, as it meant more availabilities for rides and better pricing. However to get to that point, the barriers to entry for drivers had to be lower; the main appeal of being a rideshare driver is that you get more freedom than driving a taxi.
My concern is that by enforcing rules on rideshare drivers that they find too unfair, they are simply going to decide it's not worth it, and leave the industry altogether. Then she will still find it difficult to get a ride, seeing as there are none.
It really is a tricky situation and my simple uneducated answer is "more taxis".
I have a disability but I do think rideshare drivers should be allowed to decide if they want dogs in their privately-owned cars or not.
I find it strange that the person in the article specifically mentions 23 refusals from Uber drivers, but what about taxis? Taxis should not discriminate, unless the driver has a particular condition like allergies to dogs. If I had an assistance dog, I would be seeking taxis, not rideshare, because I understand most people wouldn't want dogs in their own vehicle.
Do note I mentioned assistance dogs, which require certification.
partizle.com may be vulnerable to the hack on several Lemmy instances earlier today
For those out of the loop, several Lemmy instances such as lemmy.world were hacked.
An update on what happened including steps for mitigation has been posted.
I thought it was worth bringing up seeing as partizle.com has custom emojis and thus vulnerable to the hack.
Hi Kuro, could you please address the font size issue as indicated here. It is the biggest thing holding me back from using the app. Thank you!
Check out https://beehaw.org/c/poc.
The app is going pretty well! It's pretty smooth and quick. There's just a few things I'd like to see addressed:
- the time and date for each post is way off. I'm guessing it's using a certain timezone instead of my local time
- show the instance for each post. For example, I can't tell if a post is on beehaw.org/c/technology or lemmy.ml/c/technology because it's just shown as "c/technology"
- the username and time in the header can overlap as seen here
- open links in Custom Tabs
- the list of followed communities should also have their instance shown
- EDIT: a button to jump to next parent comment
And some other minor things that would be nice to have but not urgent
- option for a dark theme/background (not AMOLED black)
- ability to change font size. At the moment it is fine (thank you for not picking super small fonts like a lot of others!) but I'm sure it'll be beneficial for others requiring more accessibility
- the list of followed communities is not in alphabetical order so it's hard to navigate
Thanks for all your work so far!
Thank you so much for adding the ability to change the body and comment font size! This has been invaluable.
Thanks for doing the research! I've been wondering what it was.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. Finally completed the base game after falling off from the tediousness. I really hope the sequel addresses that issue because otherwise, it has fantastic combat in a world with mythical creatures.
The app looks great! Unfortunately it keeps crashing immediately once I've logged in, and every time I open the app since. I have reinstalled the app, and the issue is reproducible.
I'm not 100% sure about the technicalities but I believe "Everything" (or "All", which is what it's called on Lemmy web) shows you all the communities that your instance is aware of. By default, an instance only knows of its local communities. When a user of the instance performs a search for an external community for the first time (like when you search for "[email protected]ce", it is now aware of (federated with?) that community.
This means that you are relying on other users on your instance performing these searches, or you doing it yourself. It also means that the communities you see on All may be aligned to topics you are not interested in, as they are searches that other users have performed.
Can't believe I forgot all about this. It was the one thing I was sad to lose when I upgraded from my Nexus 5 to the Google Pixel. So simple but so useful.
To see what version your instance is on, scroll to the very bottom of the page on web. To see what the latest released version is (that your instance may not have updated to yet), visit https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/releases.
I just downloaded Obtainium but I'm noticing an issue. Maybe you can help me? For Thunder, because it's using an unconventional version naming system, Obtainium isn't detecting that my version wasn't actually the latest. Mine was 0.2.1+6 but 0.2.1+7 was out, and Obtanium said that I'm on 0.2.1+7.
Is partizle going to update to 0.18 soon?
Been looking forward to the bug fixes and compatibility with the latest version of Jerboa.
I've been using this extension for years. Very useful! Works on all sites with images, so it's been especially helpful when I'm viewing an image that doesn't enlarge; I simply scroll to zoom in.
I'm trying out Homeseek which is like desert Frostpunk, and Gord.
Oh sorry, not sure about kbin. I guess you can just post directly then.
