  • @coys @spurs

👆 This is an excellent interview with Madders if you’ve not already watched it. Fascinating to hear direct from a key player what Ange is really like. He really is as he’s been described. It’s not a mythology that has built around him, and players seem to really get on with his style.

  • Adam on Lo Celso: "He did not misplace one single pass in the entire 90 minutes EVEN with Rodri up his arse"

Almost true. He made 40 out of 40 passes for 100% accuracy, but he "only" played 79', not 90. Still, impressive given the intense circumstances.

[The Athletic] Tottenham and City Football Group: Are Spurs trying to learn from Manchester City?
  • @chrisbegley

Yes, for sure, Poch was the real deal and Levy should not have sacked him. The Stadium has been a huge distraction (then Covid right after it opened), but I understand from a business perspective why it was needed. It could be seen as a masterstroke once the regulator comes in and FFP rules are actually upheld. The need for a sustainable and diverse income at clubs at the top is important.

But for me Levy handled it all badly, including those 3 managers after Poch.

  • [The Athletic] Tottenham and City Football Group: Are Spurs trying to learn from Manchester City?
  • Something Noel mentioned several times: it'll take 10 years.

He was talking about getting to a place where you can take winning the Champion's League seriously. A real contender, not just a fluky run. This is how long it took City to get there with SERIOUS football people running the club from top to bottom with a long-term vision.

He mentioned the 10 years figure in regards to Newcastle and United, but it applies to Spurs too. Arsenal further in. Chelsea? 🤷‍♂️

  • Tifo Football Podcast: Is too much football causing injuries?
  • @LouiseMF

I thought the stuff about risk v reward of playing individuals at various stages of injury was interesting, and how players have "superpowers" which they have grown to be robust within. Made me think of how Ange is transforming certain players and how those changes might fall outside the parameters of those existing superpowers and therefore more likely to cause injury.

  • An interesting data point on Romero. This season remains \*by far\* his best in terms of discipline. It's night and day. He deserves credit.
  • @DaveWakeman

I suspect a large part of it came from growing frustration at how much the ref was letting go. He needs to not get frustrated like that, regardless. It's just a shame that one incident led to such an unravelling. It makes the incident seem worse than it was in the grand scheme of things. A terrible ripple-effect on that one.
