Wolves win against farmers as Swiss cull put on hold
  • No, they're the same species: Canis lupus. Dogs are a subspecies, Canis lupus familiaris. But they're still related closely enough to produce fertile offspring, so they're considered the same species.

  • Government money
  • I'd be fine with starting with it, though people seeing prices rise right after will be really disheartening. I'd rather start with actual legislation to punish price gouging. These companies posting record profits while the rest of us struggle more and more is absurd, and I would want to root out that greed first so any UBI can actually help the people at the bottom.

Of course, I don't expect the American government to do either of these things. Three Republicans will call it the work of Satan or something crazy like that and the Democrats will say they're all for it until they actually have the means to do it, then suddenly it'll be too much to handle.

  • Government money
  • Until by the next year rent has universally increased by the UBI.

I'm fully in favor of UBI, but unless we can get a government that will actually crack down on price gouging all it will do is funnel right back to the crooks at the top.

  • Transgender woman is disqualified from Ohio House race for not using her former name
  • I'm probably speaking out of turn here, but reporting a previous name is a simple matter of security, not deadnaming. I'm not trans, but I use my stepfather's surname and changed to that legally when I was 18. If someone called me by my mom's abuser's name to my face I would be distraught, but when forms ask me for prior legal names I just list it and it's not a big deal. It's just an identity thing.

The form isn't asking "what's your real name?" it's asking "have you ever been known by any other legal names?"

  • More EVs lose US tax credits including Tesla, Nissan, GM vehicles
  • The only reasonable way for many of us to have an EV right now is to also have an ICE vehicle for the things the EVs we can afford can't do.

My wife and I have pushed having one car between us to its limit so we're looking for an EV for regular local driving, but we really can't risk having only an EV since the ones we can afford are all very small and not AWD. Should be able to replace a lot of our ICE driving but not all.

  • The circle of life
  • Oof, six months ago code is the worst. It's still close enough to your current style that it's undeniably yours and you can vaguely remember writing it, but long enough ago that you've improved a decent amount since then. So the mistakes or bad practice hurts the maximum amount.

  • It's just totally a fad
  • I'm guessing the original is something like a stereotypical bicurious girl ending up as any of straight, bi, or lesbian. And this was just a modification of it while keeping the "bi" part.

  • *Permanently Deleted*
  • To give you a word and framework for what your post, and a lot of the comments here, are describing: intersectionality. Multiple oppressed identities or characteristics compound to be more oppressive than the sum of their parts.

Your struggles are real, and you're making perfect sense. I'm so sorry you have to deal with all of that, that fucking sucks.

  • Top progressive Democrat: Israel is racist state, two-state solution doesn’t feel possible
  • I am firmly anti-Russia, but I don't hate Russians. I am anti-China, but I don't hate Chinese people. I am anti-Israel, but I don't hate Israelis or Jewish people.

I doubt the vast majority of Americans would bat an eye at the first two statements. Why is the third one somehow more problematic than the first two?
