YSK that SLS, an ingredient added to most commercial toothpastes, causes canker sores
  • I used to get terrible stomach aches after brushing and it was enough that I completely stopped brushing for a long stupid time. Even when I made myself do it I ended up with this tons of skin falling off inside my mouth every morning if I brushed before bed. It was absolutely nasty. When the dentist used those plastic trays with the fluoride foam it would leave me curled up on the couch for the rest of the day in pain.

One day my wife suggested that maybe I have a problem with SLS and I switched to sensodyne pronamel which was the cheapest SLS free toothpaste I we could find and all of these problems went away. I'm now a regular brusher and feel stupid for not figuring it out years ago because my teeth have suffered from my ignorance.

In the interest of being thorough I switched back to my old toothpaste for a day and the symptoms immediately returned after just one night-time brushing. Sure I could go through many more changes to try to pin down exactly whether it is SLS or something else that's different between the two toothpastes I was using, and I recognize that, but SLS was enough of a reason for me to switch and I'm happy now.

  • UPS makes 6X as much as tax paid to punt an envelope over the border.
  • For what it's worth the express service level includes brokerage fees, this is listed on their site but is well hidden. It is often significantly cheaper to pay for express and avoid these idiotic fees. Not defending them but at least UPS tells you up front what the costs are unlike FedEx who just sends you a surprise bill in the mail weeks to months later.

I hate all the major carriers.

  • Does anyone experience panic attacks or extreme anxiety on Loratadine?
  • You're not alone but it's definitely not a common side effect from what I've been told. Allergy medication gives me terrible anxiety that sometimes escalates into panic attacks. For me I can take it during the day and feel jittery/weird but manageable, then it feels like it wears off but later while I'm sleeping it escalates and I wake up in the middle of a full blown panic attack. Not fun at all.

I have talked to my doctor about it and their opinion was that it's not a documented side effect but everybody is different and so I should just avoid taking them. That answer sucks for me because I'm allergic to basically everything outside.

  • www.castanet.net Group that helps Vernon needy says donations down as demand grows - Vernon News

Donations are “really, really down” – but the number of those in need has doubled, says a Vernon group that helps the poor.

I saw this in the local news and I'm sharing this here because their GoFundMe does not seem to be getting a lot of donations and is well short of their goal. I have no personal affiliation with these people aside from the fact that I live in the same town they are operating in and I like to see positive things happening.
