Dealership did repairs and now my remote start doesn't work. They say they are not responsible for it. Do I have any recourse?
  • I had the exact same thing happen, just with a 2014 Hyundai. Only aftermarket remote starts were available when I bought the car, so that's what was installed at the dealer. Took it in for a recall repair 3 years later and the remote start was broken when I picked the car up.

Contacted multiple dealerships and they wouldn't touch it since it's aftermarket (despite being installed at a dealer). The shop that did the recall repair flat out said I couldn't prove it was their work that broke it so they're not responsible. My only option was to take it to a local shop that does that type of work. Audio install and aftermarket mod shops were the best bet.

  • Vintage? How vintage? Is this rly vintage?
  • It's a still from a video. That would be amazing (impossible?) quality for a early 00's phone, it was probably done on a camcorder. Here's a YT upload from 2007, not sure when the actual show aired.

  • Ope, it's looking a bit cloudy outside! Better do another trim just in case it rains for a few days!

  • Espresso at home?
  • I started home espresso with a Breville Barista Express. That served me well for about 4 years before I got tired of its limitations, especially in regards to grind uniformity and making adjustments for different roasts (ie temp, pressure, etc.). I stopped using the built in grinder in favor of an Atom 60, which led to a massive improvement and held me over until upgrading to a Profitec Pro 600.

Until I want something plumbed in, or really want to geek out over data from a Decent, I don't see much reason to upgrade any time soon.

    [Support] Instance-specific Firefox login issue?
  • I've stayed logged in since creating my account, but trying to log on through Firefox on another computer yesterday gave me the same issue.

  • How do I cross post on lemmy?
  • Maybe it varies from instance to instance, but on sh.itjust.works there's a crosspost button near the report flag.

  • How do you use dead times at work?
  • If you want to be task-oriented and not just fuck around, do some continuing education. Depending on the field, there might even be some free options. You stay current, and you have something to show your employer if you get pressed about what you did during downtime.

Oooor you can catch up on some reading or games and enjoy the downtime.

  • Best narrative driven games on Gamepass, with equally solid gameplay?
  • Not all inclusive, just a list of games I've personally enjoyed for both story and gameplay. All of these are story-heavy though:

-Dishonored -Dragon Age series -Fable series -Fallout series (3 and New Vegas are my favorites) -Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice -Middle-Earth: Shadow of War -Oblivion -Pillars of Eternity -Shadowrun -Yakuza: Like a Dragon (haven't played the others enough to have an opinion) -Titanfall 2

  • I joined Reddit shortly before Ridiculously Photogenic Runner, and I'll leave Reddit with Ridiculously Photogenic John Oliver. Not bad.

  • Potentially unpopular opinion: It may be time to close registrations (temporarily).
  • Hi, here on a Lemmy account! This post showed in my All feed, so it looks like k.bin and Lemmy are starting to federate more (which I think is great).

I think at this point, even were k.bin signups to be closed, defederation is going to be one of the few ways to avoid bad actors spilling from somewhere. I hope that doesn't happen, but if cultures from Lemmy and k.bin end up different, maybe a way to silo what you see to only your service can be found.

  • Aramse review of Orea V3
  • I'm loving my Orea; it's replaced the V60 most days. I haven't bothered with flat filters because of the negotiator tool as well, but Kalita filters have been working fine. One thing I've found is that some coffee will stay between the brewer and the filter without flowing down. I'm not sure if tipping the Orea and adding that 'stuck' coffee is helping or hurting the cup, but once I get a TDS meter I'd like to see how much dissolved solids (or passthrough water) I'm adding at the end of a brew.

  • Why is Lemmy.world getting over moderated as it has been functioning as our r/all equivalent by obvious user choice?
  • Not accusing you of this, but there might be confusion between the instance lemmy.world and the self-titled lemmy.world community. This is about moderation in the lemmy.world community, which is meant to discuss the instance; not moderation of the instance as a whole.

  • Good suggestions for a manual coffee grinder?
  • Are you looking for something for espresso or pour-over, and what's your budget?

  • Is it possible to 'transfer' or 'sync' community subscriptions to accounts on different instances?
  • Interesting, I'll try playing around with it more. I was on quite a few Beehaw communities, and could only see posts from before defederation while logged in. When viewing those same communities signed out, more recent posts and comments were visible.

  • Is it possible to 'transfer' or 'sync' community subscriptions to accounts on different instances?
  • You can do it manually, but if you're operating from your lemmy.world account Beehaw communities won't update for you. You can only view what was posted before the defederation, if I'm understanding things correctly.

  • what does it mean that Beehaw "defederated" from lemmy.world?
  • Hey, TigerClaw. Looks like the Lemmy error of throwing your comment into another thread happened.
