YouTube confirms your pause screen is now fair game for ads
  • I use PurpleTV and it's been great. It's a Twitch fork modified to block ads, reduce bloat, and include customisation for chat, player and other components.

Don't know if we can share links here but the APK can be easily found online, still being updated semi-regularly. I won't come back to the official app as long as I'm able. :)

  • It's a gift and a curse
  • Oh god, TVTropes is like fucking crack cocaine for my brain, I'm like a wet sponge after those endless rabbitholes. I have had the most difficult time explaining to others what it's about, but I'm quite content for it to be my own little getaway.

  • What's your most unpopular opinion about music ?
  • I discovered them through "Savin' Me" and I unironically love that song (and its music video) to bits. Even if some of the lyrics are a bit flimsy and dramatic, the song overall is so emotionally powerful. Same goes for "Hero" (packaged with the first Spidey movie). Strip away some of the ear candy in the Kroeger production and they both still hold up as beautiful songs.

  • Does Arkham Knight get better?
  • Tacking on my unsolicited two cents - I gave Origins a very, very fair go (added an easy 30 hours to my playtime and even completed some challenge paths for my sense of accomplishment), and while it does try to emulate the success of its prequels, ultimately it falls short of its predecessor.

Arkham City is a perfect balance of all the elements introduced during the series; it doesn't feel incomplete (although Asylum works great as an entry point) yet it's not an overbloated mess like Knight. Its story also feels more emotionally involved and the plethora of characters is incorporated well.

  • Please don't downvote this [too much] but...

I'm not seeing ExpressVPN get mentioned here or elsewhere anymore except for the odd YouTube ad (perhaps this is already a tell-tale sign).

Their website states that they run it off RAM and they don't keep logs.

Is there something wrong with it / did something happen to it that I'm not aware of? (I've been a customer of theirs for some time now)

My aim with using VPN is to maintain data privacy across my Windows, iOS and Android devices, and be able to access geofenced media (e.g. a different country's Netflix library), with minimal to no access issues during browsing or streaming. What's the go-to these days?

  • Excluding the Horror genre and individual movies in a series, what movie story ends with evil winning?
  • Without spoiling too much, the ending is not entirely traumatising in my view, but it personally left me rather depressed, with an acute feeling of loss and hopelessness. Though wouldn't say that any standard trigger/content warnings apply to the ending (the rest of the movie does get rather bloody though)

  • Excluding the Horror genre and individual movies in a series, what movie story ends with evil winning?
  • I've got one that's a gem and hasn't been mentioned yet, for once!

    Upgrade (2018)

A guy and his wife are attacked, his wife is murdered and he just barely survives. With the help of a super-chip implanted into his body by a billionaire, he sets out to get revenge. But at what cost?

A stylish, savage techno-action film, basically John Wick but with AI chip. The ending is rightly haunting. Well worth watching!

  • What is that movie you saw at too young an age that still haunts you to this day?
  • I have a vivid memory of my first time watching it (at about 8 years old, on good ol' VHS), and running away to peek from behind the door during >!Murphy's execution!<. It's still fucked up every time it comes on. Horrific
