  • It says it's mainly inspired by MessageEase in the F-droid description. It uses a custom character layout, but you can change to the MessageEase layout in the settings.

  • Yup! I'm getting an average 70 wpm using it. It's quite fun to use (:

  • Thumb-key by one of the developers of Lemmy. It takes some getting used to but is my favorite at the moment. Updates seem to be around once a month.

  • Having a built-in system setting for apps you choose to require biometrics would certainly be nice.

  • Just wanted to mention ViMusic doesn't seem to be getting updated anytime soon. The status is mentioned in this push request.

Consider trying out InnerTune instead which has several more features and active development :)

  • There's also Clipious on android which uses Invidious, that works great right now.

  • My experiences and thoughts on some FDroid dictionary apps

Owl for some reason won't display definitions and seemed to lack a considerable amount of definitions.

QDict requires additional apps so I didn't really both with it. Seems to be abandoned.

JADA no longer seems to function and is abandoned.

CollinsDictionary seems good for basic use. It requires the internet to function and can't search in a definition page. I don't believe it has sections for etymologies, though it had a neat pronunciation option. The definitions have the best layout I've seen so far being very easy to read. It seems to be abandoned and the most recent release hasn't been published to FDroid.

Spell4Wiki again would be good for basic use and has about the same features as CollinsDictionary. Includes etymologies and (I think) is a wrapper of wiktionary.

Aard 2 is my favorite at the moment and I think has the most features. Features I found useful in include search in definitions, bookmarks, offline viewing, translations, and histories. Although it can be used offline, it requires the internet permission to optionally load remote content. The setup was a bit difficult and I had to hop around on some websites to download the dictionaries.

QuickDic was pretty nice. It's very similar to Aard 2 but lacks alot of features. You can conveniently install dictionaries within the app, but for some reason the definitions aren't formatted which create a bunch of spaghetti words. Despite that, it was pleasant to use. I believe the app works without the internet permission after installing the dictionaries.

    KISS masterrace
  • Nice homescreen! Arcticons are always delightful to look at.

When I was messing with launchers I stayed away from using KISS since the circle was always green when doing the spinny loading thing which didn't fit my theme. I wonder if they've changed that? Other than that it's a pretty good and lightweight launcher.

I used to use Tinybit launcher which was alot more customizable than kiss and didn't have the annoying green spinny thing.

  • Is the numberpad needed?

After using the English v4 symbols layout I'm wondering if the numberpad is even needed. One of my problems with thumbkey is that you have to switch to the numpad for numbers where on normal keyboards you could just have the numbers above the keyboard.

There's enough open spots (specifically s and o) where swipes for numbers could be added so you don't have to keep switching between the letter and number layouts.

    Thoughts?

  • I'm using it with the keygrid size at 75 (long fingers) The app's been pretty solid for me, though I do miss some features from other keyboards:

-Undo/redo swipes (like when you accidentally delete selected text, you can undo it)

-Built-in clipboard history would be very useful to me

-Swipe to move cursor with spacebar like openboard

-Swipe with backspace to select text

-Copy swipe for selected text, already have paste swipe

-The settings button could become a swipe, I occasionally accidentally press it when I type without looking which is a little annoying

-Some more common punctuation in empty swipe spots would be good instead of having to go to numpad or tapping space. It would also make monkeytype quotes faster since they use alot of punctuation.

Other than that I'm really enjoying using it and am getting alot faster. Thank you for the app!
