Certified foxgirl enjoyer. Weeb, but hasn't properly watched anime in ages. Gamer of incresingly niche subgenres. Aficionado of racecars, mechas, fighter jets, and any other vehicles you can think of. Lives in the wrong side of the planet compared to all my friends. Made accounts in 278 different instances in the Fediverse after escaping Reddit, is still kind of lost. Doesn't know how hashtags work.

  • We're just back in the Vettel era of Red Bull. Did we get stupid articles like this when Mercedes was absolutely dominant for 7 whole years too? Or the Schumacher years? Go tell Ferrari to get their head out of their ass and make an actually good car so someone else can challenge.

    kbin Login bug fixed?

I haven't used kbin much this past week, but over the last day or so I noticed I haven't seen the "login bug" happen anymore. I can leave a tab open and still come back later and upvote, boost or comment on posts without the page giving me an error and asking me to re-log in. So, I don't know what our guy ernest did, but let's give him some recognition and appreciation for actually fixing it! At least for me, it seems fixed. Anyone else noticed it?

Kbin's "Log in" bug is discouraging me from participating
  • It's been happening so much I think this is the first comment I try writing here in about a week. You say 20% but for me it's more like 80% chance of it happening, sometimes when the tab has been open for just a minute. I've been just using my Lemmy account much more, even if it lacks several features I like about kbin.

  • [Medland] BREAKING: Otmar Szafnauer is leaving Alpine at the end of the Belgian Grand Prix
  • And here we thought Ferrari was the biggest shitshow on the grid. In comes Alpine, demonstrating clearly that the only thing they are winning, is the contest for biggest clown fiesta in F1.

  • F1: Rossi replaced after two-and-a-half years as Alpine CEO · RaceFans
  • Such a shitshow. The French really can't decide if they want to commit to putting resources into F1 or not for years now.

  • Which sims do you own?
  • I have pretty much all of them except iRacing and rFactor. I tried rF2 one time on steep sale and the game not only didn't properly recognize and configure my wheel, it also installed with literally zero content for me to try it with.
And before someone comes in with the "but once you set it up it's da best and..." No. I won't. I'm happy with my 300GB of Assetto mods.

  • Who'da thunk a browser made around crypto shit would do such a thing. I only use this browser on my phone because of the ad blocking to open links people send me, I should just get something else. Does mobile Firefox get proper ad blocking?

  • Looking for a $400 or less electric guitar with a rich sound.
  • Haha, I'm in a very similar situation. Picked up my old Ibanez for the first time in a long while and now that I'm in my 30s I'm looking for an upgrade. Guitars I've been looking at, mostly, are the Ibanez RGA-42FM, and the LTD SN-200HT and at a higher step, the LTD H-200FM. They're all very similar guitars to what I'm personally looking for, but they might help you get some ideas.
I'm sick of having to fiddle with the Floyd Rose on my current guitar, and I don't really want another Superstrat, I never use the middle pickup ever. So I went straight into these fixed bridge double humbucker guitars, but with coil splits (all 3 of them have it) for versatility.
I'm also looking into Telecaster-like models, and these are almost always pretty good across brands, and you can still play metal on them even with single coils.

  • i just want to say, this is probably my most missed community
  • Yeah, honestly the only thing I'd still check regularly on Reddit is NCD. Glad we're actually making an attempt to movehere.

  • I couldn't find anybody who would cut a custom pickguard in the COVID times, so I did it myself
  • Oh wow that looks great! Love the contrast between the black of the body and the pink of the flowers. Also I love the irony of playing heavy fucking metal out of a Telecaster shaped body.

  • [Spoiler] LETS GO!
  • Finally, it seems that the upgrades for McLaren and Williams fixed their cars. Although I hope that this isn't just because they're racing on their backyard of Silverstone right now, and that this form carries over to the other racetracks.

  • Denuvo wants to convince you its DRM isn’t “evil”
  • I cannot state a "FUCK YOU" big enough to reading those quotes from these devs. Screw all of this always online DRM bullshit. This era of gaming is irrepareably impossible to preserve for the future.

  • Sega calls video games that use blockchain technology 'boring'
  • Emulators or just straight up portable platforms like a Nintendo Switch, are the one grace for gaming on the go. I've given up on phone games too.

  • And then you go into certain areas in Dark Souls or Elden Ring, and you're actually supposed to go through that. Fun times in Anor Londo.

  • Really missing a true "save" ability for posts and comments on kbin
  • Yeah honestly I'd like for upvotes, boosts and saves to actually work in more conventional ways we're used to in other social media, instead of this weird "boost is actually an upvote but it's also a retweet" and "upvote does nothing but actually saves it to your profile"

  • While larger, more general communities are thriving on the Fediverse - I'm missing out on the niche communities
  • Yeah it's going to be a process. For an example, the Gundam and Gunpla communities are relatively niche compared to other anime or model kit building (which are already niche things in of themselves) and while their subreddits are quite active, we still don't have that critical mass (or much mass at all) of posts and content to engage with here. I have been meaning to, and plan on, making more posts to those so they get more activity.

So, if I'm following correctly, Lemmy currently is experiencing a massive wave of bot registrations, and now about 800 thousand new registered accounts across several different instances are bots. Wha

So, if I'm following correctly, Lemmy currently is experiencing a massive wave of bot registrations, and now about 800 thousand new registered accounts across several different instances are bots. What is kbin doing to prevent that, other than just being somewhat smaller and not picking up as much attention?
