Orcas Just Sank Another Yacht
  • The Orcas be pissed, man.

  • I appreciate the juxtaposition with the sign. Great image.

19 Tasmanians have received indefinite bans from entering any of the state's public native forestry estate — an area covering 812,000 hectares. It follows protests against native logging near Takayna/Tarkine, but most of the protesters live locally, and say the bans will impact their lives.

Pod of orcas trapped in drift ice off Japanese coast
  • The movie, "Big Miracle", seems to have been based on a real event known as "Operation Breakthrough". There was a time where something like this would have the entire world holding it's collective breath and doing all it can to save the animals. Today, hardly anyone knows it's happening. 😢

Footage aired by the Japanese broadcaster NHK shows a pod of orcas, also known as killer whales, apparently trapped in drift ice off the coast of Hokkaido. At least 10 were seen poking out of a small gap in the surface and struggling for air.

  • ‘Your Product Is Killing People’: Tech Leaders Denounced Over Child Safety
  • I mean, sure, but I feel it probably wasn't the greatest unmasking. Some of the stuff was just plain ignorant and embarrassing ... for the lawmakers. Like this exchange with the Tik Tok CEO. I feel like they probably don't really understand what they are up-in-arms about. 🤷‍♀️

  • Epic lost their case with Apple regarding Fortnite, yet now Epic are looking to make Fortnite available on iOS in EU. But from the article it seems an alternate "app marketplace" would still need Apple approval anyway. It will be interesting to see how all this is going to work.

  • Is it okay to wash hands with body soap?
  • Exactly. I think the bigger question here is whether hand-soap is sufficient to use as body wash? 🤔

  • Apologies. It was the first source that appeared in my feed.

Edit: oh and this is British Sky News, just in case you hadn't realised it's not Sky News Australia ... a completely different beast.

Lets start a new Lemmy holiday tradition. What's a song you've been digging lately?
  • I went thru many of his songs after discovering "The Search". "When I grow up" is great ... the subtle comedy in the kitchen scene is brilliant. He's quite the lyrical genius!

  • I made a cheesy ASMR timelapse of some weeding I did at home in preparation for the coming Spring.

We are coming to the end of winter here in Australia and it's time to get my garden beds ready for the upcoming growing season. I've got some weeding to do and general tidying up around the yard before spring is upon us. So welcome to today's gardening timelapse!
