General Election Day: a megathread
  • Been, voted. No queue, but a gorgeous old kirk. Predictions: 30 SNP, 24 Labour, 3 LD. And I work with (not closely) a family party candidate, boak. Gonna be funny seeing his face get 123 votes at the count

  • General Election Day: a megathread

First things first: bring your ID!

Polls are open, voting booths are setup, counts are being prepared, Ruth Davidson is peeking at your postal votes already, party campaigning is suspended, and the media are obsessed with dogs at polling stations.

And even if you think it's shit and pointless, remember your forebearers literally have died for your right to wield that pencil, cross that box, and chose. You can chose to spoil, you can chose a different government, in Scotland you can chose a real oposition, and in certain seats you can choose to believe in the ghost of Charles Kennedy. And Tories can choose to stay home, save lives, and protect the NHS.

Who's going early? Anyone got a queue? Any predictions for Scottish seats? (we're down to 57) Anyone know any candidates?

Pinch of salt with all this, anyone going to be staying up? Anyone doing a party?

35 jobs at risk of redundancy in Scottish Rugby financial reset plan

Consultation in the UK is a euphamism for a foregone conclusion btw. This must be Dodson's last act before he goes. It's also in the press release that pints and food are about to go up again too, in more words. And given a 3million black hole last year - it looks necessary.

The SRU are investing heavily in both pro teams, and it's paid off at one end of the M8. This should result in more season tickets for Glasgow next year, and there is a fourth home game in the november series. And the Super6 is gone, so another cost reduced. And surely a big boost with Taylor Swift at Murrayfield too. Personally I'd have stuck with a hiring freeze for a couple of years, and been a bit ruthless with some performance reviews rather than redundancies. That isn't a good look ever, and smacks of incompetence with hiring and strategy

  • Some fuckwit VP needs fired over this decision. It was a simple game: pickup fairs, earn extra time, unlock stuff as you progress. If a publisher want extra cash, do more levels, or different jobs (delivery driver addon anyone?). And a fun soundtrack

Should have been able to bang it out for a million quid, and then reap the rewards. But nooo, now we have a game nobody wants to play, costing 20mil and will have servers shut down 2 years after launch

Everything that is wrong with gaming in 2024

There are reports of 'difficulties' with the delivery of postal votes across Scotland.

Postal delays leave Scottish holidaymakers unable to vote

Shambles is the word. Not enough printing capacity? Not enough IT staff to run the print job? Not enough posties to deliver or sort? This should surely have been known about 2 weeks ago! We're less than a week out now and anyone without a ballot in hand or in the post across the highlands and islands is now unlikely to have their votes count
