Choosing between joinery planes
  • I've honestly never had a problem with grain direction, but I've also had pretty good luck being able to select good boards to avoid wonky grain when I need to use the plow. Having both handed versions would certainly be a luxury, but I definitely don't think it is necessary, personally

  • Choosing between joinery planes
  • Between the two, I would get their combo plane personally. I won a plow plane in a raffle and I've used it a fair amount, but wish I could do more with it. I can't really justify having that and the combo, so I'm sticking with it for now. Maybe some day I'll sell it and just get the combo personally too

  • Release v0.8.0 · Plant-it
  • Reading through the main page for it, it seems more like a smart journal. You'd enter your crops, and enter info about water/treatment information, and it'll send notifications as reminders to do tasks, but it doesn't determine water and care schedules for you, that's something the user sets up (from what I understand at least).

  • Alpha males
  • I don't know if this was to point out that a file is iron and that can sharpen stuff, but I'd like to point out that files are generally made from a tool steel alloy that is formulated to be quite a bit harder than iron/standard steels after it gets properly heat treated. Files aren't just "iron" and there's a lot of different steels that do different things.

  • Bond Price Changes (June 2024)
  • I know how that goes. It's easier now when you can just amass money going for logs and stuff, but that takes a different level of commitment lol. And I agree about brighter shores. From the previews, it looks good, but I was honestly hoping for something more like Skyrim with RuneScape's skilling system. I am cautiously optimistic either way lol

  • Bond Price Changes (June 2024)
  • Yeah even Bonds on osrs were nuts last I checked, like 13m, and is you assume ~10x exchange rate, that's 130m on RS3. It's not really a big deal, but it definitely hurts those who use bonds to maintain membership, since generally they're lower levels, and getting 150m every two weeks sucks lol.

On brighter shores, I 100% plan on playing that, and really hoping it sucks me in like RuneScape did 20 years ago!

  • Turn your god damn headlights on when it’s raining
  • I'm in the camp that think cars headlights should basically work like motorcycle headlights. If the car is running, the lights are on. There's basically no reason to have them off in general use, it only makes you more visible, even in nice weather.

  • Yeah I think that's a fair concern. But if you're just doing some sizing on it with soft woods and softer hardwoods, it should be fine. Personally I'd try to go with the DeWalt anyway if budget allows. It's a solid saw, and gives you some room to grow, and had a track record of being reliable

  • Probably late, but it greatly depends on how much you'll use it, and what you'll use it for. If you'll use it for some simple crosscuts a few times a year, sure it'll be fine. All the time for nice joinery? Id try to get a more well known and tried one

  • Tell me about your hobbies
  • Daniel said it pretty close, though you can get into it a bit cheaper than you'd think, but it depends on what you want to do. You can get into forging for line 350 with an entry anvil and small propane forge. Welding can be done for like 150, but the welders aren't great, though they do work. Machining is a different animal, you can get used machines, but you're likely looking at 1k+ unless you get a machine you want to refurbish. You can make things with files and a hacksaw alone if you really wanted to, but that takes ages

  • Tell me about your hobbies
  • I've been doing some "making" hobbies, mostly wood and metal working. I think the process is fun, partly figuring out how to make a thing, but also it's nice to turn my brain off and just chug along while making progress on a project. There are times while learning it's been frustrating with things taking more effort, or not turning out as expected, but the journey has been fun

  • Thoughts on Necromancy?
  • I'm late the the party here, but figured I'm chime in too. I finished 120 a few days ago, and have really enjoyed it. Overall it feels really good. I like that the meta is rituals, so it doesn't feel like you just need to afk grind combat again, though it's an option if people want. I do wish rituals were more viable pre-90 (though knowing what I do now, it might be better than I thought).

I have finally gotten into doing rasial, and other actual pvm, and it feels strange, but good. I like being able to do some competitive dps without needing all the switches and keybinds like other styles. I hope they maintain that, and don't muck it up in future updates. I like that a lot of abilities don't have cool downs, they are useable as long as you meet the requirements. It makes it feel a lot more intuitive. I'm interested to see what they do with it down the line.
