He WHO is not guilty cast the first WHO-stone Rule
  • I always chalk up fictional universes as being translated to you as storytelling. The Whos probably don't even speak English anyway so everything is translated and what we call Christmas is a crude translation from whatever they call it. I seek solace in that they celebrate a pagan gift giving tradition with decorating similar to our Christmas but without the Christ.

  • I've been trying my best buying responsibly sourced clothing with organic cotton and washing cold/delicate and air drying. Gotta say, the clothes are lasting a long time but they're so damn expensive that I feel like I have to treat them with such care.

It's hard to blame people for not wanting to spend $200 on a lifetime lasting shirt in this economy when they can get one for $10 and have it last maybe a year and just buy new clothes.

Perhaps as part of regulation, there's subsidies for responsibly/ethically sourced clothing.

  • What is your "inexpensive" hobby that turned out to be expensive/ you gradually invested lots of money into?
  • Ditto on that. Thought I was content with my first ergo but one thing after another led to an artisan keyboard with CNC backplates and plates, 2 year long group buys, and artisans to match the whole theme that costs the same as the keyboard. At this point I'm so far in the hole that my artisan keycap collection cost more than my keyboard collection.

It's just another one of those hobbies that has many moving parts so you can optimize and personalize each part.

  • AITA for yelling at my brother-in-law after he woke me up and told me to make dinner while we were staying at his house?
  • NTA. If you were in the bedroom, door closed, clearly not vulnerable to disturbances then he had no right to bother you. Was it rude to yell? Maybe, but who isn't angry when abruptly woken up?

It doesn't sound like you were expected to assume a SAHM role as a guest. And given that he knows you work and he's a grown man, he could've just made a snack or ordered food for himself.

Personally I'd cut him slack given that there's some stress to provide for guests 24/7 but I wouldn't feel guilty about that reaction when being woken up. His normal routine is out of order which probably makes him irritable as well.

He definitely overstepped his bounds and shouldn't be making unreasonable demands like that when you're already stressed out. You are in his house though and he sounds stubborn so I don't know how comfortable you would be with that confirmation bias and holding onto tension.
