LEGO Trains community
  • We'll see. If another Lego community pops up that's fine. I'm not too concerned about a sticky post, more so about making sure these communities get help growing as well.

  • LEGO Trains community
  • I like to pin niche Lego communities to get the ball rolling

  • Learned the A320 recently, really enjoying my intro to airliners.
  • All good as far as picking a post goes for your question; it's early days and we all have simple questions we could use answers to!

  • MSFS on Lemmy
  • Great to hear! Hope you all enjoy the place and we can continue enjoying flightsim without skipping a beat after Reddit

  • 1% rule: 1% of users actively create new content, while the other 99% only lurk.
  • Since leaving Reddit definitely more participation. Even started some communities; a thing I never really cared for doing, but seems more appropriate and rewarding here!

  • I made the mistake of checking Reddit (using my last few days of Apollo) and came across a complaint about Lemmy that flabbergasted me
  • Dark grays, blues? Squared? Good. I love simplicity! Not to mention, Reddit started out like that too, and among the older wave of users old.reddit was still a favorite for that reason.

  • "So the billionaires’ families are gonna get billed for all of this like the time my family got billed for my ambulance ride, right? Right?"
  • Similar kind of stuff happens all the time, where public institutions bear the cost and consequences of private enterprises. Good example of a not too dissimilar situation was Memorial Hospital during Katrina, where instead of sending private helicopters and rescue, the firm that owned the hospital opted to wait for "free" US government rescue.

Privatize the profits, but socialize the losses.

  • Can I just talk about the atmosphere
  • Oh yes, I love the winter atmosphere in all kinds of media. The fact that we have such a well crafted and experssive game about surviving just that is really nice.

I'm not against the concept of society at all, but the way TLD portrays the absense of it is superb.

  • How to work up from Stalker to Interloper?
  • Thanks for the deluge of info! Looks like that channel is an amazing source. Wonder how I have missed it for so long.

I try to enjoy the game slowly, but some sense of a personal roadmap to mastering more and more of it is nice to have. I think you helped me a good deal with that, cheers!

  • Are there any Reddit refugees spending more time on Lemmy than Reddit?
  • Same like many others here. With Spez's frankly infuriating behavior I was determined not to go back, and have only spent time here on Lemmy. No regrets, as I'll take a small growing passionate community over a gigantic dying jaded one. You're all pretty nice company!

  • Why specifically a Lego branded community?
  • Offbrand bricks are just fine. The reason I picked the Lego name is because everyone knows it. So no worries! If you want to make a specific community for offbrand bricks, I'd be glad to pin it!

    Created a Lego Storage Community
  • Stickied! Let the niche communities flourish

  • Collection of free software
  • A bit dated as Moskus also said. Skip on OpenOffice in favor of LibreOffice for example.

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Announce Trailer - 4K
  • Yeah, it has me (and many in the community (Discord)) torn about this course of action. It's not turning out to be a great week with all the corporate greed

  • Walking Lego insect - Lemmy.ca
  • Always great to see Lego robotics projects. Really sparked the imagination as a kid, and it's never been uninteresting to see what people come up with

  • Favorite type of game?

What are your favorite type of campaigns to play? For me it's got to be space truckers, as I just really love the origins of the whole franchise: Alien. Things feel grounded and tense when it's just blue collar workers trying to get by and encounter things way beyond their wildest nightmares, with no guns to save them. Anyone else feel this way too?

How to work up from Stalker to Interloper?

Hello, I've been playing this game for ages now, but only sparingly, and still struggle with stuff. It's nice, and a good challenge, but what is an actual good way to get into Interloper? It's just brutal, and I can't seem to find my footing. Much appreciated!

What are some of your favorite fan theories or details that are overlooked?

For me it's still that the writing system goes from ancient Chinese, to traditional, to simplified. In the Cave of Two lovers for example, the characters are very old, and everyone in ATLA writes in traditional script. In LoK it's virtually all simplified. Just a really nice touch imo

    How did you discover ATLA?
  • That's great! Anything that specifically stood out to you that drew you in? I just recall how different it felt from the cartoons back then that had very self-contained episodes

  • Avatar @lemmy.ml Lux @lemmy.world

    How did you discover ATLA?

For me it was when it originally aired. I remember "Jet" being the first episode I saw on TV, and the rest is history! Anyone who first saw it after it aired, or when it came to Netflix?

  • Sadly, this is the only logical conclusion of things that are run for profit. Here's hoping the federated model proves more resistant in the long run.
