UFC champ Sean O'Malley 'changing up' on Conor McGregor allegiance after being targeted in rant
  • When O'Malley was a nobody, it was quaint for Conor to send positive messages his way - like ruffling your little bro's hair on the way out the door. Now that O'Malley is a named fighter who people outside the sport are starting to know, he's a threat for Conor.

  • Dustin Poirier thinks Islam Makhachev is underestimating him ahead of UFC 302
  • I gotta be honest, I don't see this going Dustin's way. However if anyone has the ability to pull one out of nowhere, it'll be Dustin. Let's see if he fares better against Islam than he did against Khabib - he's had a lot of time to figure out how to deal with that style.

  • [SPOILER] Chris Weidman provides blueprint on how to lose fans
  • It's not Weidman's fault that he was given a win. He had to react to that information, just like everyone else. Now, does that excuse poking the shit out of the guy's eyeballs all fight? Does that make it right to parade around like you just KO'd the dude? No, it does not. He should have been penalized for the pokes and should have been more respectful, at least. But the people mad at him about winning should redirect that anger towards those who made the decision.

  • Sean O’Malley: ‘It was actually a disgusting feeling’ when knee strike blasted Chito Vera in the face
  • That knee was nuts. I distinctly remember thinking "That's it....wait what the fuck?" when Chito just ate it.

  • Archimedes’ death ray might have worked, teen science project suggests | CNN
  • That is discussed in the article:

The Discovery Channel series “MythBusters” featured episodes in 2004, 2006 and 2010 testing out scenarios for the purported death ray but ultimately declared the legend to be a myth when each test failed to light a wooden boat on fire. In 2005, a class of students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, inspired by the show’s first episode, was able to ignite a wooden boat once with a similar technique to Sener’s on a larger scale, but failed on a second attempt.

Sener said he believes that combining MIT’s findings with his own, the data could suggest the death ray was plausible, and Archimedes likely could have used the sun’s rays with large mirrors to cause combustion. But the technology may not work in cold temperatures or cloudy weather, and the sea’s impact on the ships’ motion affects the practicality of this device, he added in his paper.

  • SteamOS on non Steamdeck hardware
  • Yes, I'm just offering an option to replicate that streaming functionality here. As to versatility, that depends entirely on what you're doing. There are situations in which the Steamdeck would actually be the far more limited platform compared to what I described.

  • SteamOS on non Steamdeck hardware
  • If you're just wanting the functionality of a Steamdeck on some other device, there are a variety of ways to accomplish that. If the other device is an Android, you can just install the Steam Link app and you're off to the races. If it's something else, depending on the device you can probably get Moonlight running on it, which will accomplish the same thing but will actually have more versatility than you'd get with a Steamdeck anyway.

Home Automation integrations with security camera system

Anyone have any experience integrating their smart home functions with their security cameras? I am switching to an IP camera based system and I'll be using BlueIris as my base software, so there's a lot of potential for integrating my automated stuff. If you've done this, what kind of routines did you set up? I'm thinking about doing some stuff with facial recognition for the people who live in my household, but that'll depend largely on if it's reliable enough.

NASA predicts a decade-long surge in coastal flooding in the 2030s due to the Moon's orbit

sealevel.nasa.gov Study Projects a Surge in Coastal Flooding, Starting in 2030s

In the mid-2030s, every U.S. coast will experience rapidly increasing high-tide floods, when a lunar cycle will amplify rising sea levels caused by climate change.

"...the alignment of rising sea levels with a lunar cycle will cause coastal cities all around the U.S. to begin a decade of dramatic increases in flood numbers, according to the first study that takes into account all known oceanic and astronomical causes for floods."
