Home Automation

Anyone have any experience integrating their smart home functions with their security cameras? I am switching to an IP camera based system and I'll be using BlueIris as my base software, so there's a lot of potential for integrating my automated stuff. If you've done this, what kind of routines did you set up? I'm thinking about doing some stuff with facial recognition for the people who live in my household, but that'll depend largely on if it's reliable enough.

Posting this because I was doing research on automating my blinds. Anyone here have any experience with that?

What is your home automation setup? Do you have your own Home Assistant server and custom rules for everything? Are you using Alexa or Google?

Let's see if I get this right as new to kbin though regular user (or was) on reddit , so fingers crossed

Also I see no posts as yet on Home Automation, so if I'm right, here's the first one

New to the Home Automation scene , I've been playing around with Home Assistant on a RaspberryPi 4b, but it only has 2gb running just Debian and Chromium with Home Assistant, but comes often to a grinding halt running out of memory.

So either I buy a Pi with 8gb of memory or I go for a ThinkCentre Tinys PC which is about the same price, (refurbished amazon) but also running Windows 10 😱 which I suppose i could delete and run Linux

Am I right, that this could be a slightly better option than the Pi?

Any thoughts?
