Biden Campaign Brushes Off Idea of Reforming the Supreme Court
  • I know that’s what all our Lemmy lawyers are saying. But I’m pretty confident SCOTUS would find a way for rules to apply to Biden that weirdly wouldn’t apply to Trump.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see him try. I’m just saying if I was in his spot, I wouldn’t immediately jump in assuming everything will just be “that easy”.

You should at least sleep on it once or twice before you do something as drastic as everyone wants.

  • Except that we know for a fact the refs are incredibly biased against specifically one team.

I wish he would use it, but I understand the hesitance to do so. Why would they do this BEFORE Trump is back in and even give Biden the option to use it? Why risk giving Biden a 4 year larger window to use it if he does win? Feels like a trap to me.

  • 'Babbling' and 'hoarse': Biden's debate performance sends Democrats into a panic
  • I have a lot of trouble considering anything from polls/surveys being accurate, considering in my 30 years, I’ve never been asked for my input on one.

Who are they asking? (No way it’s a curated group who’s likely to answer in a specific way to create drama in the media right?)

  • 'Babbling' and 'hoarse': Biden's debate performance sends Democrats into a panic
  • This line of thought always amuses me. “It’s democrats faults for not stopping republicans from being horrible people”

Oooooorrrrr maybe it’s republicans fault… for being horrible people?

“It’s the fire departments fault my house burned down, not the guy who lit it on fire.”

  • So I’m a die hard apple boi as well, but I’ve been getting into Linux a bit lately (to replace my windows machine that was solely for gaming)

I think the main reason I still stick with Apple over Linux for most things is that Linux requires more tinkering.

Every time I wanna play a new game I need to try out different versions of protons until it works. When I need a new software, I have to go google if I CAN have it, how to get it, or to find out what exact version I should use for my distribution, etc.

Linux, as impressed with it as I am so far, is like having an old classic car I’m fixing up. It’s a hobby. I need to dedicate time to learning, maintaining, and optimizing my experience. So it’s great for my hobby of gaming!

My Mac just works when I need it to work, no tinkering, no second thoughts. It’s the boring but reliable modern car I take on long trips. I just use computer, get work done, without roadblocks I have to google derailing me every 10 mins.

I’m all for Linux, I’ve very much enjoyed it so far and will continue learning, but as a “normie” using Linux, the simplicity of Mac is often missed.

  • Microsoft blocks Windows 11 workaround that enabled local accounts
  • You can also use Steam itself to run external launchers via proton! Might not be the best way, but it was super easy for a noob like me to figure out.

Let’s me play ffxiv (non steam) and bnet games quite easily!

  • America's largest LGBTQ rights group plans $15 million swing state blitz to re-elect Biden
  • So the people doing nothing are causing more harm than the people actively hunting and persecuting me?

I’d disagree. That’s like saying my neighbors who didn’t put out the fire in my house are just as bad as my other neighbor who started the fire in the first place.

    We have two choices.

    Democrats haven’t done a damn thing…

  • Windows 10 EOL PSA
  • Not sure what you have, what your trying to do, and am pretty new to Linux myself, but I’m running KDE neon with a 3070, and after a little work to get drivers updated I’ve had minimal issues!

I’m not doing anything too crazy though, mostly web browsing and gaming is all.

  • Microsoft is one of the greatest promoters of the Linux desktop
  • Not the best job, but I guarantee it’s having an effect.

I say this as someone who finally gave Linux another chance about a month ago (due to annoyances with Microsoft) and it’s going really well!

Even a noob like me can just install KDE and learn a few “launch through steam” tricks and I’ve had very minimal issues!

I think a lot of the casuals like me still think Linux is all terminals and command lines, but it’s clear it doesn’t have to be now. And Microsoft’s campaign is what pushed me to come look again!

  • America's largest LGBTQ rights group plans $15 million swing state blitz to re-elect Biden
  • I don't like it, but in reality I have 2 choices.

    1. Someone who is supporting awful things around the world, but will (at least temporarily) protect myself and my community. or
    2. Someone who will continue supporting awful things around the world, and will without a doubt persecute and hunt me and my community.

It's a shit choice. But its an easy choice. One candidate is a very real threat to not just myself, but my friends, family, and community. The other is not.

I'd love our magic 3rd option to show up and be viable, but they won't. We all know this.

  • My friends and family don't understand why I'm so happy with my air fryer notification.
  • I’d argue an airfryer is better to leave alone then an oven. They turn off on their own, so if you forget about them, it runs its 20 mins or whatever then turns off.

My oven is on for the weekend if I fuck up haha.

  • Windows 10 reaches 70% market share as Windows 11 keeps declining
  • I just got a steam deck, and needed to install FF14 (non steam) so I was mucking around in desktop mode… yeah. I’ll prob be getting a spare drive for my tower now to try out Linux. I’d love nothing more then to cut ties to windows.
