My solo project is getting closer to launch, here's the latest trailer I've made

Visit the game's page: https://minifun.games/td/

Hi, I'm the solo dev of Towerful Defense: A Rogue TD. It's roguelike tower defense where you control a single tower to fight against hordes of aliens coming from all directions. Pick your tower, equip up to 4 skills, and choose from a variety of traits and items to craft powerful builds that lead you to victory.

The game is participating Steam's Next Fest in June, with an updated demo and it's available right now.

You can ask me anything about the game here. And don't forget to add it to your wishlist :)

I've gotten back into Cyberpunk 2077; This game went from a disaster to becoming the version which should have been released! So many systems reworked, being able to ride the Metro in cinematic style, and the new story of Phantom Liberty makes this game great. It's still disappointing that the pool of romanceable characters is so small, with only one gay man in the entire line up. At least the other parts of Cyberpunk 2077 are so much stronger, like the lore about the Cyberpunk universe; talking about the game makes me want to continue my Phantom Liberty play session!

Nintendo launches lawsuit against the devs of the Switch emulator, Yuzu.

Nintendo claims that Yuzu actively assisted in piracy of Tears of the Kingdom. They say that Yuzu violates Nintendo's copyright by decrypting their games to run.

They also claim that "Nintendo also has technological measures on the Nintendo Switch console itself, including additional layers of encryption, which prevent users from unlawfully accessing or modifying the console—including to procure the prod.keys—and from accessing or copying games stored on the console or on a cartridge inserted in the console." - From the actual lawsuit which you can read here: https://www.scribd.com/document/709016504/Nintendo-of-America-Inc-v-Tropic-Haze-LLC-1-24-Cv-00082-No-1-D-R-I-Feb-26-2024

Nintendo claims that Yuzu spoiled Tears of the Kingdom for everyone (not listed as a damage in the lawsuit this is just something they've added on).

This lawsuit bears similarities to the Bleem v. Sony though I'll let you draw your own conclusion if this is comparable.

I've been enjoying Nexomon- Extinction so far, it's a sassy game that's quite fun to play! The game mechanics work as intended and there were only a few things which I questioned before an NPC provided an answer. Leveling up my Nexomon seems like a potential slog though, I've gotten used to experience sharing in Pokémon games; I must unlearn this behavior. There are cores which can act like an Exp Share, which is nice because there are two party members that don't need to hog a large chunk of experience! I've been juggling those cores around to passively level up Nexomon which were behind in levels while using stronger creatures to tank damage.

I appreciate the game's aesthetics because it reminds me of older Pokémon games, while remaining unique. The setting matches up with the desperate situation this world is currently in as there are settlements and camps throughout the land outside of their one big city. Humanity seems to be close to potential extinction. Nexomon Tamers are responsible for desperately keeping the wild Nexomon at bay so others can labor on in safer surroundings. I'm going to keep playing today and get further in! As the need to know what happens next is strong, I felt that similarly with Coromon too.

Palworld beat Counter Strike 2's alltime peak of concurrent player count

And the impressive thing is, Palworld isn't even free to play, it's a (relative cheap) priced games. So this number is not just people trying it out for free. Also have in mind the game is on Game Pass on Xbox and on PC. So there are actually people not buying and playing on Steam.

The only game with more concurrent player record is still held by PUBG, which is at 3.2 million.

So, having played some #geometrydash 2.2 for a while, I'm starting to warm up to the swing. I'm still not a massive fan and way prefer the ship (which gives you more control), but the swing's long sweeps can help give sections with it a large, grand vibe (e.g., the swing section in Dastardly). Maybe my distaste is just a skill issue. Idk.

Is this a special promotion, because I already own the original version of the game? Or was this sort of a bug maybe?

I literally just opened Geometry Dash and was met with a terms of service pop up. "…Why are they showing me this? Did my data get wiped or something?" And then I see the Tower and realize that 2.2 just released.

Glad to finally see it here. Played through Dash (which is really easy for an insane imo, beat it much more quickly than usual), and it was mostly great! Only issue is that I REALLY don't like the swing copter. It's not fun to use at all.

Kaiju-Sized Pet breeding/Sim Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher on sale for 50% off (biggest discount since release) through 12/4

Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher is a Switch game on sale on the eStore for half-off! It is a Spin-off / collaboration of the mainline franchise Monster Rancher and Ultraman franchised Kaiju instead of traditional "Monster Rancher" breeds.

What is Monster Rancher? MR is a fantasy Pet Raising and breeding simulator that has:

  • Creature raising that can vary based on your personal choices of ... everything.. Feeding, drills, battles, what breed, or mixed breed you've done etc.
  • Creature breeding via Fusion (Parents are consumed in the process, but babies created from it can inherit stats and attacks from parents)
  • Tournament style progression
  • Unlockable roster of monsters through story and side-quests
  • Real time combat mechanics which your success is based not only by how you've raised your monster, what attacks you've taught it, but how you directly control your monster and execute attacks. (Monster Rancher itself is also technically a spin-off of a Horse racing/breeding simulation "Gallop Racer" by the same developers (Tecmo / KoeiTecmo).

Ultra Kaiju monster rancher plays very similar to an amalgamation of MR1 & MR2 with some new stuff thrown in because... well.. Big Ol' Kaiju!

If you're curious about the roster of Kaiju, you can view all of the Field Guide Kaiju which includes the ones available from the start and all of the locked, DLC, and hidden Kaiju as well.

If big Kaiju aren't your thing, there's always the remasters of the Originals... "Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX" which is on Steam, Switch, and iOS. MR2 specifically is the franchise's most popular game in the series and PVP tournaments are still frequently run. If you have any questions about either, just ask :)

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth wins Most Wanted Game at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has won the Most Wanted Game category at the Golden Joystick Awards 2023 powered by Intel.

Due in February of next year, Square Enix's much-anticipated follow-up marks the second part of a planned three-part modern-day reimagining of its 1997 source material.

Hot on the heels of 2020's Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth extends the legendary story beyond Midgar – with a recent trailer teasing familiar spots such as Cid's Rocket Town, Red XIII's Cosmo Canyon, and the indelible Gold Saucer theme park.

Add flashes of an introspective Sephiroth, Jenova, Junon Harbor and that thoroughfare-dominating parade, and it's easy to see why people are looking forward to this one, and, indeed, why it's come out on top of this year's Golden Joysticks' Most Wanted category.

Throw in the teasiest of Emerald Weapon teasers, and… yeah, February 29, 2024 really can't come soon enough. Full credit to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth rising to the top of its 20-game-strong category.

We're playing a Half-Life Cut content recreation mod, Half-Life: Absolute Zero, with one of the original level designers from Valve Software, Brett Johnson. Mr. Johnson worked at Valve from 1996 until 1999, and was responsible for most of the design of Anomalous Materials, Unforeseen Consequences, Surface Tension, the multiplayer map Stalkyard, among many other things. We play through his sections of this recreation mod, judging it's accuracy, and telling stories of what Valve was like back in the 90s. This one is special, thank you Brett.

After 2 years of work, I made an FPS where if you stop moving, you lose! - STOP DEAD

Hey all, I hope you will forgive me this small bit of self-promo. I got my start with gamedev while in college \~5 years ago, just messing around with friends. Taught myself with tutorials from the community, youtube, etc. Eventually, I started my own youtube channel where I started covering different things in Unreal with a focus on speed and wit. Supported myself with freelancing during this time - until I lucked out with this game idea. ... then 2 years disappeared in the blink of an eye and when I came to, a friend of mine and I had made this with the help of my co-developer Mike! Stop Dead is out in early access right now, and we will be developing it into a full release over the coming months! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2164030/Stop\_Dead/

Were all playing Fallout games again. Does the franchise have a "starting the game" problem?
  • @Melkath imo the biggest problem with Bethesda games is the amount of time you have to spend in menu due to the equipment stat spreads, “junk” collection/economy, and character management. I’d be much happier with an “unlock” system for weapons and armor where you could pick up equipment and unlock it rather than add to inventory. Then have the game economy be around quest rewards rather than junk hauling to sell. Have consumables follow the Witcher pattern of charges until resting. This would massively reduce inventory time and make the games way more playable.

  • Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree Preorders Are Already Discounted
  • Yeah anyone on PC should try and cross reference prices on the various 3rd party storefronts vs Steam. I use gg.deals to do this.

  • Highly anticipated indie Sims 4 rival Paralives sets early access release window for 2025
  • @mike591 I'm excited for this game because they've built up a lot of sensible gameplay elements so early on in development. The social system seems more interesting than The Sims 4, where you could become best friends and marry someone on the same day you met them (I've done this so often, even with conflicting personality traits). It takes both time and effort to befriend the other Paras! That is what I desire from a social sim, investing time into creating the story for my character and having that time feel meaningful.

  • Subnautica 2 will be a live service game
  • https://unknownworlds.com/subnautica/an-update-about-the-next-subnautica/ :)

I thought the soundtrack was good on it's own (I love Ben Prunty's music), but it did not fit the game.
The way the music and audio design in-general in the first game all fit together so well is what made half the experience.

    And yeah...

    spoiler

you go down to find out what happens to your sister, then that becomes a side quest you can forget about and you fuck off with a random alien :')

  • Subnautica 2 will be a live service game
  • It's not becoming GaaS, they just meant it will receive updates like the current ones did, was a mistake in wording.

I hope it's more like Subnautica and not Below Zero too, having a silent protagonist explore a world and uncover story was far more fun than full voice acted characters. Not the mention how broken the BZ story was and how the world never made you feel uneasy like the original did.

  • I've been enjoying Nexomon- Extinction so far, it's a sassy game that's quite fun to play! The game mechanics work as intended and there were only a few things which I questioned before an NPC provide
  • @DNU There are games I have fond memories of, but my memory of specific events is all but gone. I usually remember themes more than story details (especially for games I played years ago). I understand your lack of memory associated with Nexomon- Extinction.

  • I've been enjoying Nexomon- Extinction so far, it's a sassy game that's quite fun to play! The game mechanics work as intended and there were only a few things which I questioned before an NPC provide
  • @DNU I'm close to finishing the game myself, Nexomon- Extinction has been a solid adventure! I have a higher opinion of the story only because the satire really vibes well with me!

  • I've been enjoying Nexomon- Extinction so far, it's a sassy game that's quite fun to play! The game mechanics work as intended and there were only a few things which I questioned before an NPC provide
  • @EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted Its fine, sometimes people don't understand one another initially. I'm verbose in my replies so that might have also been a cause of said misunderstanding.

Yeah, Nexomon-Extinction for its price point is surprisingly free of the garbage that plagues mobile games! It shocked me as well and I found it hard to process at first. You'll have fun with this game because it challenges those who have been starved of challenge by Pokémon games! The Nexomon designs are intriguing, I'd love to pick their brains on where their inspiration comes from.

  • Steam Next Fest is back and underway with "hundreds" of playable PC demos
  • If you're the type who wants to unwind from the hyper-realistic art style of most mainstream games nowadays, while also exploring modern Filipino life and culture through the eyes of a young adult student, the Until Then demo might be up your alley. Aside from the pixelated art style coming from the devs themselves, who are also wholly Filipino themselves, there's quite a substantial attention to detail when it comes to the greater Metro Manila and the suburban locations around, including our local circuses. Oh, and there's also quite a bit of mysteriousness and some philospophy to it, as vaguely evidenced by its Playstation 5 trailer.

  • I've been enjoying Nexomon- Extinction so far, it's a sassy game that's quite fun to play! The game mechanics work as intended and there were only a few things which I questioned before an NPC provide
  • @EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted The only reason why I'm playing this game is because there are no microtransactions or any garbage associated with mobile games in the PC version. It's a typical buy once and enjoy game, I'm not a fan of the free to play model especially how many developers choose to implement it. It's scummy, manipulative generally and that's something which needs to go away in the gaming space.

Also, I just shared my love for the catching and collecting mechanics because it's a relaxing thing to do in times of stress for me. I didn't misunderstand you at all, we all enjoy games differently.

  • Steam Next Fest is back and underway with "hundreds" of playable PC demos
  • The Homeworld 3 demo is impressive and I'm really enjoying Lightyear Frontier as well. Definitely going to buy both when they come out in March. I've been hooked on the Homeworld universe since I started playing it in the 90's (25 years ago! lol I'm old) so it's been quite a long wait but it looks like BBI have done a great job. I've loved them since Hardspace Shipbreaker so I knew this would be something special.

  • I've been enjoying Nexomon- Extinction so far, it's a sassy game that's quite fun to play! The game mechanics work as intended and there were only a few things which I questioned before an NPC provide
  • @EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted Personally, I catch and evolve as many as possible as I love to collect those creatures! EXP Share did lighten some difficulty in Pokémon games but most of the battles were also under tuned which compounded the issue. There were very few difficult fights in Pokémon games collectively as a result. It's sad that the Pokémon journey felt like a joyous stroll rather than a real adventure.

Nexomon-Extinction certainly doesn't pull its punches, rewarding strategy and preparation with an earned victory every time! There are encounters that I've barely won because it's a challenge and every decision matters. Team composition and balance of types is crucial as well. Nexomon-Extinction feels like the Pokémon game that I've always wanted but was doomed to never receive because older gamers aren't the target audience.

  • The Pokémon Company Announces It Will ‘Investigate’ Palworld IP And Assets
  • The person in social media who extracted and compared assets admitted they modified them to appear more similar because they didn't like how the game promotes animal cruelty.

One thing that a lot of people don't seem to realize in this whole discussion is that, whatever you may think of it as far as artistic integrity goes, Pokémon only owns the full complete design of their characters and the actual game files, but not every possible independently produced variation or recombination of those traits. They own Wooloo but they don't own every possible roundish sheep-like creature.

To be fair it's obvious that Palworld's company Pocket Pair doesn't care about originality. But whether the are literally infringing on the Pokémon property is unclear, and a lot of people are making serious but baseless accusations out of snowballing social media outrage.

If there's any actual, real issue that warrants a lawsuit, you can be sure that the Pokémon Company's lawyers will find it out. It's not like they need anyone to defend them, we are literally talking about the biggest media brand in the world.
