Would it be possible to have a quick settings button to hide (not just blur) all NSFW posts in the feed?

In normal browsing I like having the blurred NSFW images available in the feed, but whenever I'm in a public space, I'm always terrified I'll accidentally open one of the NSFW images. This is compounded by the fact that the last post at the end of a feed is extra-clickable because of the way feed loading works. If I'm scrolling down and the feed needs to load more, Sync will often count that interaction as a click on the last item in the feed.

Well, Boost is out and I thought I'd see what the fuss is about. I immediately saw a running "karma" total which turned me off but one feature I did appreciate was the ability to see the images I've uploaded and choose to delete them from the server if I'd like. This would be helpful as sometimes I upload the wrong image or forgot to crop. See screenshot below for an example of how it could work:

For example, Beehaw defederated from sh.itjust.works and I have an account with both. If I'm on my sh.it account and browsing the beehaw feed it'd be nice if when I tried to comment it would automatically post from my Beehaw account instead of giving an error.

For an example of how this could be implemented see Liftoff. One issue I have with their implementation though is additional accounts. If I have a lemmy.ca account as well I'd still rather comment from sh.itjust.works if that's where I'm signed in since they're federated anyway.

I prefer Sync so I've just been switching to my Beehaw account when I want to participate there but now that I can view the feed without switching it would be nice if participation was streamlined.

I know this is a specific use case. Would anyone else benefit from something like this? Any ideas on implementation?

I'm not a fan of outright blocking certain communities and would rather have a kind of "relevancy-factor" or "weight" with which i could tune the frequency of seeing posts from certain communities. A factor of 0 would be the same as blocking a community. 1 would be normal.

I am not familiar with the exact method with which posts are displayed in "Everything" or the ordering thereof. But I'm sure it's taking the up votes into account. A relevancy factor of 0.5 would treat a post with 1000 up votes as if it had 500 and there for position it lower.

This way highly up voted posts from certain communities would be able to appear.

This might already exist, or might just generally be a stupid idea, but here we go:

I share images from Lemmy / Sync pretty frequently, primarily as direct images to Facebook Messenger. However, Messenger doesn't like WEBP files, and quite a few instances seem to be using WEBP instead of JPEG or PNG.

It'd be a time-saver (literally minutes a day!) and reduction of friction if there was an option to convert WEBP to JPEG on-the-fly when sharing. Right now I have to check the image format, and if it's a WEBP I need to download and edit / re-save before sharing.

I was going to say this would be a nice value-add for Ultra, but I'm already subscribed 🤷🏻‍♂️

I bet this issue doesn't actually affect that many users (stupid North America and its reliance on Facebook Messenger), but it does ever so slightly annoy me, so I figured might as well shoot my shot and make a feature request.

It's annoying enough that if Sync was OSS I would have submitted a PR already.

All that said: Sync is great and I'm so happy it was transposed from Reddit.

The comment score should be mentioned in figures without using the keyword "points".

So, this will probably be possible when the link handler is implemented, but it would be really handy to be able to switch what account you are viewing a post with. I'm guessing it would be possible to share the post to the link handler and then there would be an account selector, but it would be nice if there was a slightly less roundabout way to do it.

I'm on a smaller instance and browse all from the anonymous Lemmy.World account sometimes, but when I find a post from community that I'd like to subscribe to I have to copy and edit the post link to get the community link to search with. If anyone knows an easier way I'd love to know it.

Many of us came from Reddit and are still exploring Lemmy by browsing "Everything" or "All".

Right now, when I want to subscribe to a community from "Everything" it takes me 4 clicks / taps. If I didn't enable opening a community directly, it takes me even 6 clicks / taps.

Can we have a button on each post, similar like the save or upvote button, to directly see if we're already subscribed, and clicking it would subscribe / unsubscribe us? With the possibility to disable the additional question if I really want to subscribe?

That would help the adoption of Lemmy / Sync and makes it easier to subscribe to all the communities which seem interesting.

Image posts on Reddit and Lemmy tend to be very low quality. I realize you can hide thumbnails from the List/Compact views, but I want to filter out the posts all together.

Hi! Small feature request - could we have another toggle in the settings that would allow displaying the bar with community name, time posted etc. above the post title? This way we would know the context of a post before we start reading the title.

I understand this might not seem like a big deal and there are other, more important features the dev(s) might be focusing right now but it would be a welcome QoL option. Hope this is not something that requires a lot of effort. Cheers!

I got accounts in multiple instances due to inconsistency in each instance. (for example lemmy.world is offline now). I would like an easier way to migrate my subscriptions to another instance so that I can keep a copy of my subscriptions even if one is down.

On top of this Sync settings changes for each account I got (WHYYY!!), now am forced to change each and every Sync settings on each account. Please give us an option to keep same Sync settings for all accounts; or give an option to copy config to other accounts.

Pretty much the title. I'd love it if I could use Firefox or even an incognito mode as a default browser.

As a matter of personal preference I am a fan of a quick tap or a swipe to collapse. I don't enjoy the long hold to collapse/un-collapse.

What I mean by this is, when I tap the option to share the stickied "Post launch day chat" post, it shows me that I'm about to share the link https://lemmy.world/post/2580455. What I'm looking for is an option to prefer sharing the user's home instance version of that post, which in my case would be https://lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz/post/2365657.

Since Lemmy doesn't have a lot of content yet, I primarily browse all. Since there are a lot of active communities in all that I'm not interested in (different language/NSFW, etc), it would be really handy to be able to block them from the ellipsis menu. Right now you have to go I to the community and find the block option there. Similarly for users.
