LPT - Don't be afraid to set boundaries. Politely decline any requests to work on Thanksgiving and emphasize your commitment to your work the rest of the year.
There's also no shame in working holidays. Some places are going to be open. Some jobs don't or can't stop. And some people don't care for the holidays. You got no family or a shitty family you're not gonna spend time with? You got an important job like direct care or power plant maintenance or something? Get holiday pay and the good will of your coworkers by volunteering for a holiday shift. I did it all the time when I worked for a direct care non-profit.
