[WTS] - PLB1 Personal Locator Beacon - ACR Electronics - $175

I received this PLB device as a gift from my parents who were concerned with my solo backpacking adventures. The selling point with this device is that although it doesn’t have all of the added features of a Garmin, it does not require a subscription fee to use. All you need to do is register your beacon and information with NOAA Beacon Registration (which is very easy to do). I also confirmed with NOAA that if/when I part with this device, removing my name from the registration is a simple process.

Using it (which thank goodness I never had to do) is simple. Just extend the antenna and push the button. It has accompanied me on roughly 15 long weekend trips over the past two years. You will receive the beacon and mounting devices that came in the original box (pictured; mounting devices never used, only brought the standalone beacon on my trips).
