So far his predictions have come true. We entered the "Malacanang shitty" in 2016, Mrs. Marcos is back in power, Noynoy passed away (albeit not by decapitation), and we can now fight Gosling after he starred in Barbie.
I hope I'm still alive when the magnafanta computer is finally introduced in 2046.
I've been checking Lemmy almost ever since the weekend just before the blackouts, replacing Reddit as my addiction (of sorts). I've also managed to subscribe to a good number of communities, such that my feed is now quite healthy with content. I almost never get the urge to browse Reddit anymore, not even with all the mention of it in my feed.
How about you guys? Kamusta naman ang Lemmy experience ninyo thus far?
Ever since the blackout, I barely go back. The only times that I do is 1) to look for AskReddit material for the RD thread, 2) when someone links to juicy content, 3) close down r/thevisoria, and 4) peek at r/PH's frontpage occasionally, particularly nung polling.
But I stopped posting and likely never will again. Wala rin ako itch to do so.
Edit: Ayan napasilip tuloy ako doon and found out that Couples For Christ have been gone for a while now, there's a courier called HBK, and questions about phone brand and opening an OnlyFans account.
You know what, after reading some of the replies here, I'm starting to think of this place as some kind of a safe zone, a lounge where people can just relax and take a break from all of the havoc happening elsewhere online.
It's been slow for lemmy communities to form. Partly na rin siguro madami parin fence sitters sa reddit debacle up until July I suppose. Kaunti palang nasasalihan kong communities tho.
I don't know if it's just me but the posts are all over.
Sites like this has helped me greatly in checking out where my subscribed subreddits have gone to: https://sub.rehab/ I also find myself sometimes idly browsing All on the off chance that I'll discover some community I would like.
And yeah, there might be a lot of fence sitters, but I think after the wave that's coming after the end of this month, things will quiet down. From then on, it's really up to us already here if Lemmy/Kbin will be a thing, or it'd just be a fad. Network effect is a hell of a drug, but if there ends up a stable and engaged population here, creating and consuming content, it's already a win in my book.
I don’t know if it’s just me but the posts are all over.
Not wanting to toot my own horn but some of this is me, I think. I'm very unforgiving of low-effort posts that could be answered with just one reply. Tipong topics that belong in the Help Thread or already been asked/addressed several times before. Makukulong ka ba if hindi mo binayaran yung 800 pesos na balance sa PLDT or takbuhan mo Anytime Fitness membership. Best earphones for 200 pesos na goods na goods. IT o Accounting, ano kukunin ko na course? Innova o Avanza?
Karma farm or redundant threads bwisit rin kami. Yung mga "Ako lang ba naiinis sa utang na loob", "What's your favorite pancit canton?", "Toxic Filipino Culture", tinatanggal ko na lang without any explanation, lol.
The last month or so we were very consistent with this to the point na yung mga threads na otherwise matatabunan papunta sa third page, get a chance to shine. A good example was DENR planting the wrong Mangrove specie — it only had 11 replies on its first day and mushroomed to 195 in just a few days.
Hahahaha! Parang pinapanood natin sila from a secure location, parang massive multiplayer online version ng Big Brother house, tapos tayo ang audience. 😅
Ayun lang. Ayaw kong tignan yung mga subreddits for my interests na ala dito. Natatakot akong maging marupok at magbalik-loob kay Poong $₱€Ƶ eh. HAHAHA!
Lemmy consists of 80% literacy and 20% of photos/GIFs. I love reading, especially the thread na pasok sa niche ko. Reddit was once like that, but now it becomes "hieroglyphic" and full of "imported stuffs."
Just installed it. I'm not a fan of the tiled cards and you can't customize anything yet, but other than that it's not too bad. May distinction for the OP, pages are displayed like you'd want it to, and it's clean.
Like I said awhile ago, the community was just an echo chamber. Para sa mga Pinoy, walang resemblance ang Reddit API changes and most of them galing rin sa Facebook na baguhan lang sa Reddit.
Well, it's not that there's a whole lot of us here, especially after the otherside has reopened.
However, relatively speaking madada tayo compared to the other country subreddits here.
I'm proud of the fact that we only have 700 subscribers but the community is in the top 5 of most comments. Yung iba nasa 2-3k members but could barely muster half of that.
Tbf, mahina talaga RDs natin pag weekend, kahit nung sarado pa kabila. So, not surprised at all na career low yesterday now that the bulk of our members made a beeline back in there earlier this week.
It'll be interesting how post-June 30 plays out, though. Will more people migrate here or come back? Maybe. I'm not so sure the Lemmy mobile apps provide a better experience than the native Reddit app for them to abandon ship.
"I can't say my feelings for you will be the same, but one things for sure, I loved you, but you changed you want my heart back then but you want my money now"
POTANG INA MO SPEZ, ANG GANDA GANDA NG INFINITY SOBRANG SMOOTH, MAS SMOOTH PA SA JERBOA PERO ANO GINAWA MONG POTANG INA KA, I'LL MISS THIS FOR SURE, RIP INFINITY I USED THIS APP CIRCA 2020-2023
I've been having some random slowdowns and the occasional hang the past few days eh. Kaso di ko na masyado inusisa since wala akong mapansin na commonality other than a slowdown, tapos hang.
Pag may budget, (Purefoods) corned beef o di kaya (Reno) liver spread.
I'm more of a "kanin sa almusal" person though. So if I do eat pandesal for breakfast, I usually just eat it as it is (or slightly toasted for that extra crunch) with black coffee.
how is it that both Black Mirror S6E1 and S6E2 are dogshit? :((((((( this is the kind of dread i can only get from the show that i've been longing for, but this time it's from the show dying :((((((((((((((((((
My speculation: I think the creator, Charlie Brooker, intentionally made this show worse because they don't own or don't have massive creative control on this show anymore. They made a nod in S06E05 by introducing a new label, "Red Mirror," focusing on horror-themed stories rather than sci-fi/techno-themed. "Loch Henry" and 'Demon '79" are clearly not belong to Black Mirror, and are uniquely made.
I don't know what happened to Charlie Brooker with Mazey Day. That was straight-up C-grade movie. lol
Me and the wife have been huge fans ever since nasa BBC Channel 4 pa siya. While the tone shifted drastically with the move to Netflix, I can sorta see why they nearly pivoted away from it completely this season by going absurdist and meta-humor. There's only so much you can do with "technology is bad" and being known for twists e.
It wasn't aired on BBC. Black Mirror was first aired on Channel 4, counterpart ng BBC. Black Mirror is the reason I gained knowledge of Dogme 95 (typically an ultra-guerilla style of filmmakimg) from S01E01.
Yeah, I missed the vibe of S01 and S02 na napaka-bleak ng storytelling, and thick UK and Scottish accents. Haha
I recently played Hill Climb Racing 2 on my smartphone and these Coin Master and TongIts Go whatever extensively popped during gameplays, and I never turned on my Google's personalized ads settings. I can assume our geo-based Internet ads are filled with gambling-themed
It's been awhile since I fully disconnected to a VPN tunnel, and I thought chocolate ads from EU and mobile plan ads and skin care products from JP and SG were shit. May mas malala pa pala... haha.
