Been a while since I last used Pereira’s powder soap, so I figured why not on a misty Monday?

Mammoth Monday Sample Straightember Shave

Brush: Zenith 506U N (50/50 horse mane/tail)
Razor: Böker Abalone
Lather: House of Mammoth – Tobacconist
Post Shave: Summer Break Soaps – Valedictorian
Fragrance: Chatillon Lux – Gratiot League Square

I smell too good. I first had planned to use Fake Yellow Light instead of Valedictorian, but I'm happy I changed my mind because this scent progression was fantastic.

The Böker is starting to feel familiar, and the spike point doesn't worry me anymore. So I predict I'll feel overconfident, act negligently, and poke an earlobe or nostril in one of the upcoming shaves.

The horse brush continues to be a pleasant surprise. I've thrown all sorts of soap bases at it, from as soft as Fitjar creams to hard Martin de Candre soaps, and it works well with everything. Today, I had a particularly nice lather though, a reminder of why I like the Tusk base so much.

Sooner or later, you're going to wonder if you aren't using an area right near the point, or you'll switch to this razor after using round points for a while. At least that's what happened to me with my Red Imp. FWIW, you can soften that point without disturbing the beautiful blade profile.
- You're right, and I'll probably end up muting the point at some point. In the meanwhile, though, I'm enjoying the challenge of drilling the safe handling of this absurdly pointy point. 🙂

Wanted an easy shave today, so I went with my Henson. Worked incredibly well with the Wizamet blade. 3 passes, no fuss, and a very smooth shave. Definitely looking like I need to grab some more of these blades.

3 passes. Face lather. Good shave.

Today I'm trying a Black Shadow edge for the first time. I like the feel of this stone a lot. I used it with a slurry and with plain water. It is velvety smooth either way. The shave was extremely comfortable but I would like a 3-pass shave to be a little closer. I'm not certain this is the fault of the Black Shadow. I'm going to refresh the edge and pay more attention to sharpness at each stage.

Nice stone! I've seen that the owner of 1stone recently changed the proposed order of the Black and Green Shadow: now the Green one is the final finishing boss.

I bought myself a La Lune stone, but I haven't tried it yet 🤷‍♂️
- I wasn’t even aware of a Green Shadow. The Black is a very hard stone. The slurry it raised seemed similar to the slurry on my Ozuku.
  
  I intend to try a La Lune at some point if I’m able to discern differences in feel between the stones I currently have.

It's overcast today, and not super hot, but humid. Perfect time to use this darkly sweet, lightly mentholated soap.

Today was hopefully the last day of heat. Yesterday, I had lost 4 bristles on my brush, soeI gave it a good cleaning with vinegar and dish soap. I must not have rinsed enough: after a good start, the lather vanished. LGC is slick enough to shave with the rests - still disappointed with myself.

A delicious progression from a delicate green tobacco, to a tobacco fougère, to a clean fougère with a tobacco note. A wonderful #mammothmonday shave.
