Lemmy and kbin have been... exciting to set up and debug.
There is a new version of lemmy in RC right now that should fix most of the issues we've been seeing, or at least give error messages that indicate what is going on.
Mastodon had several weeks of instability after the Twitter migration before things leveled out a bit. My impression is that they also have a much bigger team to work on it.
I’m grateful for you spinning the instances up .
A few hiccups along the way we’re to be expected.
When a decent mobile client hits I suspect we’ll have another growth spike and some more wrinkles to smooth out.
It's like playing Oregon Trail. There's starvation, dysentery, Massacre Canyon, wolf attacks and a crazy ass raft ride you gotta make it through before you reach the promised land of the Willamette Valley
No problem at all, it'll take how long it takes! It's not like Reddit gave anyone advance warning that they were going to self destruct, so the evacuation is all happening in a bit of a rush. =)
I appreciate all the hard work you're doing! I can only speak for myself, of course, but I think we all knew going in that this was early days and there'd be growing pains. When things are working it feels snappy and responsive so I take that as a good sign. Also these posts keeping us up-to-date on how things are going are fantastic. Pease keep up the great work!
Is anyone else able to log in using the Jerboa for Lemmy Android App - I could log in with my startrek.website account but I get an error for this site - not sure if its the app or the site (e.g. lemmy version)
My best guess is that it’s because infosec.pub is running lemmy 0.18.0 and startrek.website is still using 0.17.8. Jerboa may need an update - the new version of lemmy just came out yesterday.
