On the other side of the coin, if they love you because of your art that might seem a bit parasocial. And it seems more realistic that they'd be attracted to the income that you have rather than any skill/art itself.

The pain from this is real

always finding new ridiculous standards that i can fail at.

lots of people who aren't useless but are directly harmful don't feel this way. if you're worried about being a good person, then you're halfway there.
