Greens promise free dental for all, paid for by 'fair and simple' tax changes
"The time is now to make dental care free for everyone," co-leader Marama Davidson says.
Such a great policy for so many reasons. Equitable access to dental care for everyone leads to significantly improved health outcomes overall.
26 0 ReplyAgreed, and from the article, 3/4 of voters agree too! There's no reason why teeth should be treated so differently to the rest of healthcare.
19 0 ReplyThe dental industry doesn't want a single-payer at all. That's the problem, all the experts in the field are operating in their own interests.
Unfortunately ~49% of the population still think that "user-pays" is fair.
1 0 ReplyIt's because historically, dentists were their own thing separate from surgery and also physicians for hundreds of years. You see this even today. Many universities have Dentistry as a separate Faculty from Medicine.

No information on what these "fair and simple" tax changes are though...
1 11 ReplyTheir tax policy was already announced regarding their wealth tax and income tax adjustments.
Iirc very terse summary: 1.5% tax on net wealth > $4M; income tax reduction for <$125k pa incomes, tax increase for >$125k pa incomes.
17 0 ReplyI know what it is, I find it disappointing Radio NZ didn't even link to a story on the changes.

You really are a troll. See this thread where you're commenting on the policy they released over a month ago. https://lemmy.nz/post/30563
11 0 ReplyYou don't think a link to one of radio NZ's own stories on the tax would have been in order?
Obviously I know what they're referring to.

This information is posted in many places. If you actually care to know, a quick Google search would have turned up many articles on their proposed tax changes. Here is one of many.
