1 0 ReplyTUI birds. They have the most amazing calls. Actually all birds in New Zealand need a mention, but the TUI is my favorite.

I always think that enough time has gone by so they can just start calling it "Zealand". Also, "Flight of the Conchords".
5 0 ReplyZealand still exists though. In Denmark.

Nah, bad jokes aside, it's the people and the bird.
Overall, New Zealanders have been positive interactions for me. Not super common in meat space, but enough that it left an impression.
And, you can't escape the kiwi. Cute little buggers.
Those are the first things that pop in my head when it comes up.
The second thing is Alien Weaponry, a freaking amazing band from New Zealand.
1 0 ReplyIn elementary school, I had a kiwi teacher who told us about growing up on his uncle's sheep farm. Allegedly, he once found some caves on the property where an underground river ran. In those waters lived a huge eel that had been eating lost sheep, until my teacher killed it in hand-to-eel combat.
I want to believe that it's a true story, so you'd better check what's under your feet.
