We're only getting started. I'm getting tired of people from other countries demanding that I go out on the street and die. Not least because it's a fucking idiotic knee-jerk strategy that would fail instantly.
We need to build movements and communities, not go on suicide runs against the most heavily armed government on the planet. People don't just get up and revolt, they still haven't revolted in Hungary and Orban has been there for 20 years, Vucic has been in Serbia for 8. But somehow there's an expectation that we need speedrun a revolution in two months because Trump supporting scum constantly blab about the 2A, as if they were ever on the side of democracy.
I get the frustration because too many people still don't give a shit. But in the US successful civil resistance has been much more about sustained direct action at the local level like sit-ins, boycotts, freedom rides, civil disobedience, etc. Marches are only one part of that. Most people who bring up the civil rights movement don't know what the fuck they're talking about.
Yeah it's exhausting being told, "do something, you guys all have guns there!" when no, many of us don't, and even if Trump doesn't declare martial law, our police are militarized and they love killing people. Oh, and let's not forget that it's legal to drive in to protestors now, apparently, or to show up armed with the express intent of starting shit and then get away with murder because it was "self defense" as long as you're a republican.
And then what? That's just suicide with more steps and we're left with fewer reasonable people trying to improve things. Sorry that trying to keep people in my community fed and housed isn't glamorous or effective enough for the foreign internet but I'm doing my fucking best. I'm so tired and my brain says to just end it, but I know if I do, that's one less set of hands to help.
Yeah, the news has been basically non existent. The only reason I've known about them is by going on Bluesky and Reddit. But even on Reddit it seems they are being repressed.
Reddit is full out being censored, and they're tracking upvotes to identify dissidents. Expect any discussion and your voting history to be fully available to the cops when they ask for it.
Ironically enough, seemingly due to twitters inability to moderate, “X.com” is the best source of information regarding protests and demonstrations I have seen. Also Grok is legitimately based.
While there are pro Palestinian protests, majority are about other things. The media already got in the line (as this time people are realizing it is actually between oligarchs and everyone else) and all media are owned by oligarchs.
