President Donald Trump promised cheaper groceries when he took office, but two months in, it seems the president is sick of all the complaining. To make his point, the president shared an article from the Daily Caller on Truth Social titled “Shut Up About Egg Prices — Trump Is Saving Consumers” that minimizes concerns about the increasing cost of eggs. The article, written by right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk, concedes that “a dozen currently costs around $7, up from just $2 in October.” However, Kirk contends that inflation during Trump’s presidency isn’t as severe as critics suggest and tells voters to stop whining. “The high price of eggs is in no way President Trump’s fault,” Kirk writes. “Almost all the increase took place during Biden’s final months in office.” The pro-Trump article further defended the president, saying, “Trump is already hard at work to deliver savings for American families.”

Despite the factual accuracy of when this began, it does not mean he can go unblamed.
I mean, the price increase of eggs is largely because of the bird flu. I criticize him at every opportunity, but he doesn't have a ton of control over that.

Exactly, you run on the claim that you'll plummet egg prices immediately, you better plummet egg prices immediately. And more importantly you better not pull out the exact same line the previous administration gave for why they're high, even if it's true

There are people who will argue about bird flu influencing the price. However, when it comes to the Trump Administration, they will only blame the previous administration. They won’t try to take any responsibility for failing to meet the expectations of lowering the price that they promised.
Egg supplies in the US are down like 5%. The price bullshit isn't just from that.

Though the report does not account for recent bird losses in 2025, economist Bernt Nelson of the American Farm Bureau Federation estimates that 43 million birds were lost in January and February alone — representing 25 percent of all birds affected since the outbreak began in 2022. These losses suggest continued price volatility as producers work to rebuild flocks.

Now, the article does mention the recent bird infections being higher at 25%, however look at the specific wording used. "representing 25 percent of all birds affected since the outbreak began in 2022". So it's saying the recent infections and kills represent that amount from the last 2+ years of avian flu infections, not a sudden spike of 25% of the current supply.
I think bird flu is a convenient excuse for price gouging, just like we saw during pandemic. He could easily address that if he wanted to. He just doesn't care.
When he ran on that specific thing he better figure it out. And why is America seeing increases when other places are not?

Lol, absolutely not. Our eggs were sub $4 up until a 4-6 weeks or so ago. Now they’re $8-9.
