Apparently Mods are being given automated instructions to "check for violence" for any comments that contain the word "Luigi". Subreddit drama discussed
The mods at r/popculture pointed it out. And then the screenshot above.
yeah, just got banned, it seems like today i finally begin my lemmy journey. How well does it hold up for deep subject matter knowledge that i found in some subreddits over the years and how is the best way to tap into that knowledge with lemmy? Does google index them or is their native search better than whatever reddits search was?
got banned for trying to help reddit too. Threatened to punch anybody that upvoted violent content and to knock it off! Being a bootlicker is one thing, but the gaul to be ungrateful to someone trying to help!??
That is a bridge to far and I say "Good day, sir."
Now lemmy gets the opportunity to impress me, I hope it is grateful for the chance.
They keep permanently suspending ppl so theyll wind up here, almost like someone working there secretly wants the fediverse to do well and is shifting the population over by permanently banning them (I dont really believe this before ppl argue like im stating a fact)
I now subscribe to this theory. Might dust off my old Reddit account and try to become a mod in my favorite subs so I can perma-ban all the top posters to jumpstart those communities in the fediverse…
I got banned for, I don't even remember what, it was something really minor. Got a new account using Brave, and have been shadowbanned. Absolutely non-functional site for me now. Banning people based on upvotes though, holy shit. To suppress posts that people actually like? That's the whole point of going there for me: the garbage gets knocked to the bottom where no one has to see it. Not anymore
reddit IDs people on thier browser fingerprint, among other metrics. if they see you hiding your fingerprint they will assume its botting and ban people regardless, (its not for all cases though).
they either come here, or they go another site specifically for people who ban evades like : OF acct holders and people who promote links, im in that forum)
The thing that got me to finally switch and not even look at reddit anymore was when any content that was even slightly political had more shadow banned comments than those that were not.
