The "developed" world throws away more than half of all food and clothing it produces/imports. Simply because it wouldn't be as lucrative to give away the excess or lower prices. They could do both those things to mitigate waste, but waste isn't punished so they ignore it.
If only publicly traded companies were required to disclose information that would prove this. Oh yeah, they are, and it does. But thier shareholder very much approve of it, so essentially the companies are doing what the shareholders want, which is their job.
Maybe it's the system. And maybe it is time for a change.

But in those 4 months we got Obamacare, watered-down and weakened and toothless, but it was a hard-won great start to things that unfortunately took most of those excellent months to accomplish.
