"We’re investing hundreds of billions of dollars. They have great rare earths, and I want security of the rare earths," he said in Washington, adding that Ukraine is "willing to do it."
I’ll bet you a dozen eggs that T has no clue what “rare earth” [sic] is and why it is important. He just heard “rare”, and someone told him it was valuable and that someone else had some.
Great insight, I said something similar about how Trump responds to Musk as to whether or not Musk is operating under Putin's orders or not - if Trump's ego doesn't get the best of him with everyone referring to "President Musk," then you know god damn well that's not right.
But there's also another dynamic: I think there is a not-insignificant chance that both of these guys will grow so powerful that Putin may start getting nervous about being the one thrown out a window, and rightly so if he's constantly threatening them.
I've been asking all along why the hell Putin is so confident all this shit isn't going to blow up in his fucking face and the only answer I got (and it was from Russians) was "it's a Russian thing" lol.
President Trump said. “Never in a million years. But even now, if I were president, I’d be able to negotiate an end to this horrible and rapidly escalating war in 24 hours.” - February 01, 2023.
He's always speaking about how great he is at deals. This rare earth gives him justification for supporting Ukraine, even though he said he'd end the war.
Whether this deal will be any good or will actually be fulfilled is a very different matter.
Lose against Russia, your people are fucked for decades to come. Win against Russia with US help, kiss your rare earths goodbye and one major source of income is gone, but at least your people live.
