Here's the thing: they argue a game being "woke" means it will fail. If a game doesn't fail, they have to either admit their whole premise is wrong (not going to happen) or change the messaging to say it's actually on their side. Consistency doesn't matter. In fact, consistency is a bad thing.
It's great to hate and breed divisiveness and all, but they were probably different people saying those things. They can both be wrong, but let's not blame them for things that aren't what they did wrong.
I dunno, there were several "anti-woke" Youtubers who pivoted from "Woke character Cara Dune is a is a terrible Mary Sue" to "Poor Gina Carano is being canceled by the wokes!" without missing a beat.
Honestly, I'd be more surprised if this Youtuber wasn't ranting about how "Marvel's gone woke!" a few months or years ago. If you're running a outrage bait channel you can totally bang on the "Wokes are weak ineffectual morons" and "Wokes are everywhere ruining society" drums simultaneously. The important part is that your viewers get to feel angry at a person or group they dislike, logical consistency is unnecessary.
I still find it funny that she was a major character in the show and was to get her own spinoff, even after saying a bunch of transphobic shit.... and instead of just quitting while she was ahead she just said "Oh and I hate jews too!"
But it wasn't the end of her career, she'll always have a job in this business as long as those jobs are in Ben Shapiro hits like... Ladyballers... a film about a washed up coach who gains success by passing off cismen as the Women's Basket Ball team "Ladyballers"
Which had originally began production not as a comedy, but a documentary about "Trans Acceptance and its negative consequences", and was quickly turned into a comedy when they couldn't get any Women's League to sign their team. Not only because they knew who Ben Shapiro was and that he can't possibly have good intentions, but because the team of cismen continuously failed tests transgender athletes have to undergo to prove their hormones are within a correct range to avoid any unfair advantage.
No I'm not kidding, Ladyballers is a real movie and it ACTUALLY started off as a Documentary until the thing the final movie claims to protest was revealed to the staff to be bullshit. And if that's not insultingly mean-spirited enough, the movie ends with a character getting punched in the balls for the crime of coming out as a REAL Transperson.
Anyway, Cara Dune, a shame I liked the character, but since Disney's allergic to recasting that's the end of that... (so I guess Krang's gonna die in the same random X-Wing crash that took out Cara Dune off-screen)
Not sure how are they difference people, they flip flop pretty regularly when something didn't flop (or go well) as they expected, see The Mario movie or Ciberpunk.
I remember how the Mario movie was woke on opening day because of Peach not being a damsel (Which in modern games she is pro-active in Bowser's defeat more often than not, and in games as early as Mario 3 she was still somewhat proactive in her own rescue) but then when public opinion was for it they dropped that immediately.
Personally I wasn't a fan of Peach in the Mario Movie, it's not that I don't like Peach being a bit of a girlboss (She do have that dawg in her in a lot of media I enjoy), it's just that it felt like Mario wasn't really necessary to defeating Bowser and that the conflict would have gone Peach's way even without him.
I guess what I'm saying is, I didn't have a problem with Peach really, I just thought they could have done a little more to justify Mario being in his own story.

It's funny I've heard how this game is bad because "Woke" and how it's good because "Not Woke"
I even heard someone claim that the game is "Chinese Propaganda" and Iron Fist being broken as all hell was "Intentional to showcase the superiority of asians over whites as claimed by the CCP"
...Even though Iron Fist is a white guy and has always been a white guy. I love that people keep mistaking Iron Fist for being an asian simply because he does martial arts. To put it into perspective as to how absurd that is, imagine if people thought Gordon Ramsay was a woman "Because he can cook."
Let's be honest, if Alien came out today it would be laughed out of theaters as an abomination of wokeness and Disney trying "Way too hard".... For the first week, and then when it became a hit you'd have Right Wingers backtracking saying "Well actually it's not woke and Disney is ashamed of the film's success"

You'd have dozens of Far Right Youtubers trying to MacGyver together a deeper "Right Wing" meaning to the film. (No joke, there's a loud minority of Right Wingers who claim Zootopia is a metaphor for Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, with the sheep being Hillary and the lion being Trump)
I imagine they'd even go so far as to say "Oh, clearly the Alien represents the black people coming into our country and raping white folks! It's about how race-mixing destroys families! See cause the Alien is black and Ripley is white!"
And the Twitter people who have an equally loud minority claiming that the Xenomorph is a racist dogwhistle because for some reason they believe the Right Wing spin on it.
And THIS is why we can't have nice things these days.
Don't believe me? The game Dead By Daylight actually had this exact problem when right wing fans claimed the killer called "The Unknown" was actually a "warning about the dangers of transpeople disguised as women!", leading to people wanting to cancel DBD over it.... It got so bad that the voice actress (a transwoman) fell for the misinformation and threatened to sue Behavior (DBD's parent company)
Thankfully the situation died down when Behavior just calmly explained the character to the VA and apologized for the misconception.
Right now, the Right Wing fanbase for DBD has gone back to claiming the game is "Being murdered by DEI!" because the new killer is black and the Pride Charms released back in June are very popular, especially with newer players who don't have many charms.
