I read a good quote from nearer the election that "the British people tend to vote parties out rather than voting them in". I'd hope Labour are clever enough to realise that people wanted rid of the Tories and they happened to get in because of that!
Very much so! That's why their slogan at the GE was literally just the word 'CHANGE'.
Of course, now they have to deliver change, but only change people are happy with. In fact, only change that people who might vote for them and live in winnable seats are happy with. This is the complicated bit.
gee who could have predicted that when they chased away the base in order to court tory voters who only voted for them because the tories messed everything up so badly
If only something could be learned from this! Oh well, time for Canada's Liberal Party to ignore progressive voters and try to court Conservative Party voters instead of working to form a coalition with the slightly leftist New Democratic Party! Surely this time it'll work!
Labour is just dancing between centre-left and centre-right. About as status quo and mild as you can get. Why would anyone be excited for that these days?
Especially when if you ask Starmer about anything more drastic he just says "Maybe in the future, but not now/under my leadership".
