Actually seems like the true sicko game in the early window is JMU @ UNC. Good lord is this some sloppy football. Every other play is extremely amazing, terrible, or stupidly fluke-y, and it's on both teams
Edit: and literally within a couple minutes of making that comment, both teams have turned the ball over. Both teams are averaging about 10 yards per play. There is noooooo defense in this game
I forgot just how little I missed Brad and Gary. There's something sort of classic and cozy about the timbre of their voices if you don't listen to a single god-damned word they're saying, but they're very bad.
Mullings with the go-ahead TD in the last minute! It is sad that Michigan's entire offense is just him, though. Literally every major gain or conversion in the 2nd half was on him
The rare double-fumble-on-the-same-play! Shame it resulted in a new set of downs for SC. I did think his arm was going forward though, so neither fumble should have counted
Man hearing Charlie Strong who used to be the coach of Texas be regulated to the UTSA versus Houston Christian game is something. This is a like a D Squad broadcasting crew. Hell E squad. Though from the sound of it he's not good enough to be on this squad even.
Ugh, that is a name I'd prefer to forget. I'm surprised he isn't a DC somewhere though. Tom Herman also did the broadcasting thing for a bit and wasn't good at it either
Billy deciding he's got this shit figured out: he's doing a 2:1 ratio of Mertz to Lagway. It's yet another odd choice, and if it doesn't work, and he loses today, he might get tarmac'd in Starkvegas.
Florida up 28-14 at halftime. They probably win today, and Mertz, as usual, looks quite decent against teams that can't pressure him consistently. Run defense is super suspect though, and maroon Bulldogs are playing hard. I'll go out on a limb and say Florida wins by 8 after MSST pulls it to within that close with under a minute left.
I don't really think a win changes much though. Billy has to surprise and probably manage a bowl; 6 looks tough though, and anything beyond that in the regular season looks almost impossible. 5-7 might save him if they look surprisingly competitive versus Andrew-Johnson-UT and/or Georgia and none of the others are unexpectedly embarrassing. If I had to guess? 4-8 but he's gone before the end of the season.
And the one player on the team most closely associated with Billy coughs up the ball, though at least it's followed by a 3-and-out.
I've always prided myself on being a cerebral fan, somebody who tries to understand the why's and remember the human stories even when things aren't going how people hoped, but man this Florida team is difficult to watch and I want to burn it all down. My outward wonk is in conflict with my inner Floridaman.
LOL, nothing screams "I know what I'm doing" like a pre-announced gameplan and yanking one QB after a TD pass, and the other after a running back fumbles.
Honest question for officiating nerds, what's the difference between targeting and RtP due to neck/head contact? The Miss St kid definitely went high on Mertz, but he wasn't late.
Watching Florida @ Mississippi State in the early window. I tell myself it's to scout 2 future opponents, but deep down I know it's because this is Sicko football
Estimating about 2 hour delay for us. Which is damn near what we had for Penn State.
We're probably gonna do the same shit too, go into locker room, Neal is gonna come up with the world's worst game plan, come back out, and just shit all over himself
Rooting for Okie Lite, just because Utah thinks that splitting the eyeballs of the 30th-largest state (population 3.4M) with an upjumped charter school makes them too good for the Big XII. 🤣
By my quick math Gundy and Whittingham have coached a combined 492 games. This has gotta be the most experienced coaching matchup of the year, right? A quick look at UNC and Iowa's schedules seems to check out
Well I was really hoping NC state would put up a fight against clempson and make me feel better about our win but I'll just settle with poor gator play
Yeah I was just about to say. Called it "pathetic" as well. I will never excuse the booing for fake injuries, but it's nice to have a national talking head shine some light on that behaviour
I have tuned into all of, like, 10 seconds of this one. A little surprised it's tied at half, but the California teams in general have played fairly well on the other side of the country (at least better than I expected)
I know they're going to talk about Arch Manning ad nauseum, but I really hope they highlight the rest of the squad. We have lots of really talented players and they all deserve the shine
The more I watch this game, the more mesmerized I get by ULM's 'shark nose livery' helmets. Honestly that's, like, in the top 10 coolest lids I've seen
Ah, and they called back the amazing Bolden reception and I did not see definitive video evidence for it... Seems we're facing the refs as well in this one
So for like an entire series they were just chatting with the network CEO? Come on, at least pause the interview to call the major plays like the turnover
