It's the year 2024 and no original ideas are coming from the AAA videogames producers, but lots of those coming from indie developers and publishers instead.
I believe you know where you should throw your money.
@[email protected] It's so predictable-game publishers, movie studios, and other media outlets always take the 'bankable' path, guaranteeing their return. Yet they fail every single time as new ideas are left wayside.
I'm all for leveraging better means to enhance long loved games and stories, but not at the expense of innovative and new ideas.
Any great RPGs in the indie scene? Or are those beasts just too big to handle for small teams (reminds me that I did like the knights of pen and paper)?
@[email protected] @[email protected] I know it’s called an RPG but I almost feel like Disco Elysium is more graphic novel? Maybe 50/50. What I’ve played of it was good but I’ve yet to finish it.
@Valmond@innkeeper Currently enjoying exploring the weird world in Dread Delusion, though it's light on RPG mechanics. Reminiscent of the excellent exploration and nostalgic feeling of Lunacid. In my opinion the best ARPG currently out is Grim Dawn, if you like more RPG depth with your carnage. Lots of great indie RPGs.

I've got a few suggestions:
Classic round-based RPGs?
Doom&Destiny, Undertale, Chained Echoes
Isometric?
ATOM RPG, UnderRail
Idle?
Incremental Epic Heroes, Your Chronicle, Soda Dungeons
Action?
Palworld, Enshrouded
Farming?
Roots of Pacha, Sun Haven, Little Known Galaxy
Give me some more details, and I might have something. I play quite a lot of different RPGs.
