My kids are 5 and 6, they can do stuff to help around the house in exchange for screen time. They start with none.

I usually don't let it get over two hours but I've made exceptions. I do have limitations on what they watch, too; it has to either have a plot or teach them something. Bonus points for something like the Wild Kratts (big hit at Chateau Bizzle), which has both. I don't let them watch streamers or like kid's YouTubers at all, ever, no exceptions.
Mine are 5 and 3 and from what I gather from other parents, I have the most draconian rules of them all 😅. My kids watch very little TV...only a little before bed. They can start playing on their tablets for a bit before that, but they only have educational games (G-Compris and Khan Academy Kids, etc.) and a few other FOSS ones. I've tried teaching them to use a controller to play some SNES/N64 games on my Retropie with no luck...but according to my son's SK teacher, that's not such a bad thing. Just trying to avoid them turning into tech zombies as much as I can...they're pretty much living as close to the 90s upbringing I had as possible haha
7 and 10 for us, they have our old phones pretty locked down. They can use Libby unlimited for audio books or normal reading, music, learning games. For free time the can play games sometimes but we monitor that pretty good. They are set to lock at lights out time and unlock again in the morning. It's worked out pretty good for us so far
3 years. Only allowed Khan academy on tablet and let them have 1-2 hours of tv/ipad at most per day. Usually as a reward.
Not a parent, but I've seen the sleeping toddlers swiping vids and they're fucking terrified in their own nightmares swiping at dreams, and I feel very sad for them.
