The telescope was launched on Christmas Day in 2021, and sent up to look for interstellar life and signs of the big bang, as well as beam back detailed images from across space.
I’ve been waiting for over a decade for these images. It’s crazy that this is only a year in. Hubble didn’t hit its stride for five to ten years. (After they fixed the lease)
JWST is so amazing. It's common that space missions outperform everyone's expectations, but it's quite rare when it completely blows all the expectations out of the water.
