Finally playing fallout 4 with mods, and it's really fun (help I'm not getting enough sleep)

My major gripe with fo4 was always that you had to micromanage your inventory, and it was mentally taxing to me to have to constantly bring my inventory under the limit. I pretty much gave up on the game for the past 5 years, and just recently tried the game again, this time with mods. The game is super fun now! Why game devs implement inventory management, I don't know. May be it's fun for everybody else, but I absolutely hate it.

Did you use a mod to fix the inventory problems?

Btw, hey, it's me, one of the weirdos who likes inventory management. I never had much of a problem with it in FO4 that I remember, because I just went back to base after exploring a location. Fast travel and all that. "Breaking down" your junk makes it weigh less. Plus, I was constantly using junk to build new stuff in my bases!

I absolutely loved the base building in that game. Pro tip: create a supply route between bases. My first playthrough, I made every location self sufficient. That was a bit of a waste of time.

Now that I think about it, I was a strength/Melee build. That helps a lot with carry weight. Power armor helps even more, although it was a little clunky inside enclosed places.
- Yeah, I use global stash and junk carryweight to zero mod for inventory problems. I hate having to constantly make a decision on which ones to keep and which ones to throw away. And I don't want to keep going back to the same spot either, because it become a chore for me then. I still can't bring myself to scrap all junk because I see valuable stuff like cigarette cartons, giddyup buttercup and all that, and I don't know if I should keep them full or scrap them. Funny thing is, I hardly ever trade anything because I have tons and tons of junk and weapons and apparel already. At this point I'm just hoarding stuff without even making full use of it. I have to literally scroll for a minute to get to the bottom of the list.

Welcome to the wasteland! Always nice to hear someone playing fallout again. I'm with you on the inventory management, it sucked major nuts and thus I can't play vanilla fallout ever again. Also, if you're in the market for some cool mods, besides the weapons, and general life improvement stuff, you can find some killer quest mods that extend your playtime. Like Whispering Hills if you're into horror and tales of the wasteland to add some more interesting npcs and quests. I have those two and I'm about 4 days into my current playthrough

  There are mods to do that, but the nature of the game means it may not apply to mod-added items.
  
  I found it simpler to just make my carry weight obscenely high. While mods will do this, so will a console command:
  
  player.modav carryweight 5000

Heh. Have you played Fallout 76? Weight is much more prominent there.
- Oof, really? I'm not a multiplayer kind of guy, so I haven't played it yet.
  
  So, in the game, you get a player camp that can contain containers, which can contain a limited amount of loot. That becomes constraining, quickly.
  
  You can carry as much as you want yourself, but it will burden you beyond a certain point. Some of the most-important perks are based around increasing carry limits of different sorts of items. And you can respec at will after a couple levels, and some of that entails specing for being able to carry particular items.
  
  So, in that game, Bethesda mostly sells cosmetic stuff.
  
  They also sell some minor aid stuff, but one of the largest benefits one can buy is a container that can contain an unlimited amount of scrap.
  
  Basically, if you want to buy anything, you can pay for pretty stuff that act as decorations or skins on your armor/items, pay for some minor help stuff, or pay for reducing the annoyance of inventory management.
  
  In older games in the series, you could always at least store as much as you wanted in a container somewhere.
  
  So if inventory management drives you nuts, 76 is probably gonna annoy you.
Are you using a Wabbajack list, or did you mod it yourself? I'm about to do the same as you, with the Life in the Ruins list.
