[Question] What single early moment in a movie made you realize that your low expectations for the film were going to be vastly exceeded?

Up. Went in not expecting much, just watching it with my kid. The whole opening montage though was really well done and told a whole story without any dialogue (or nearly without any, I can’t remember).

In the new Puss In Boots during the montage where it shows all the ways he died. The animation was so clean and aesthetically pleasing. I could tell a lot of care went into the animation.

In the Barbie movie when she says “Do you guys ever think about dying?”

Suddenly the movie you thought was about a plastic doll becomes about contemplating death, the systematic oppression of women, and what kind of world we will be leaving our daughters. Fucking epic.

Some ware around where Karl Urban shoots a Hotshot in to the guys mouth in the opening of Dredd.

Marcel, the Shell with Shoes on: the wacky shit he says in the opening interview, and the completely straight way it's handled, made me realize this was just something completely different from the simple kids movie I was expecting.

Wonka. I was low-key hostile to the very idea of an origin story, but within five minutes I realized that that it was going to be a fun ride.

my expectations were in the floor, but i was pretty shocked at how much heart and soul went into that movie. it is formulaic as hell, but worth it.
